As noted .... this might possibly sound dumb but I decided to ask you guys anyway. If you rebuilt your engine and put in forged pistions and rods and all the other goods included. Would it be safe to run on a relatively low compression ... let's say 8.5:1 ... without a turbo or anything else. I just got to thinkin since swaps are most likely the greatest pain in the ass, you could strengthen the head by upgrading the major components and slap on a turbo later.

with low compression built for a turbo, the car would be really sluggish, if you get the picture.

Yea I got ya man .. I figured that would be the cause but I was just wondering if it would be dangerous to run your engine on that kidna compression without a turbo.

safe, very safe

and

slow, very slow

you will probably lose 40hp by lowering the CR
