Hey I was wondering why your gears were so short then I realised your changing at 6000, you still got another 1200 to go!

Those brakes look fantastic! Are they coated or just cleaned up well? Nice runs at the strip. I'm wanting a 3S-GTE so the Celica pulls on my Z the way yours did.

Great vids, I particularly liked the cluster vid; car pulls hard! Thanks for making me anxious for summer haha, when there will be a ton more time to work on mine. First thing to go will be that damn s54. How is yours treating you btw?
Also great job on the brakes, that cast iron type color looks fantastic. What did you use? This post has been edited by enderswift: Mar 5, 2013 - 5:40 PM -------------------- |

I sprayed them with the leftover can that I had that I used on my valve cover. They don't even make it anymore I don't think...maybe orderable on their website? The s54 is fine, but I wish I could beef up the syncros and put in a decent lsd. The color is the same as used on my valve cover. There are pics of the can somewhere in this thread. -------------------- |

Here is my overall review of the gt4 brakes. In my case I did not need to shave the calipers or use the 3mm wheel spacer. The ride height of my vehicle on the D2 coilovers that I have keeps the balljoint from contacting the rotor. I checked and verified this after a test drive. The new brakes are a bit noisy, but it's nothing that I'm concerned about. Lets be honest, performance doesn't necessarily make your ride more luxurious, but quite conversely harsh and less pleasant. There is a noticeable change in stopping power between the factory set up and these. Most noticeable when you have the brake pedal depressed 50%. I managed to lock up the front wheels twice as easily with the 4 pot calipers and larger rotors in comparison to the factory set up. For that I was pretty impressed, but also a bit concerned. I'm sure it's going to take me some time to get used to these, however I'm also sure that there are better brake upgrades out there. For now I'm satisfied with these, and think they compliment the acceleration of this motor nicely. It was a bit scary on the old set up at times because it would take so long for the car to slow back down to a reasonable place. Either way, I'll be on the lookout to upgrade the rear brakes here in the future.

You may have upset the cars brake bias by a lot. Especially if its biting that hard at 50% brake pressure. Best that you upgrade the rears for safety. I wonder if there's a different car out there with bigger master for a stiffer brake feel like the mr2's. the 4runner 1-1/16" master bolts right on.

do u have ABS? what do you mean by noisy?
technically with a lighter car you should have better stopping power than the original gt4 hmm yeah the brakes are good enough to lock up the wheels haha -------------------- Mike W

Is it indeed larger? do u have ABS? what do you mean by noisy? technically with a lighter car you should have better stopping power than the original gt4 hmm yeah the brakes are good enough to lock up the wheels haha Nope, I don't have ABS. I think the original owner custom ordered the car. It's fully loaded feature wise, but seems like certain things were excluded on purpose ex:abs and sunroof. I've been getting more used to the brakes for sure. They slow down initially like the stock brakes, but when you press further they slow much faster. The noise I'm hearing is when I hit the brakes. Pads aren't seated yet, but it just sounds like pad on rotor shenanigans. kinda like running the blade of a knife over a knife sharpener. I would love to upgrade the rears really soon. I already have a gt4 brake proportioning valve, but i don't want to put it on until the set up is complete. I'm just having trouble finding the rears for a decent price. -------------------- |

your brake proportioning will definitely even out a bit more if you get the rear setup.
Along with the proportioning valve, youll be able to dial in and fine tune it to where it feels right. With a stock brake master cylinder, brakes will feel stiffer and lock up more quickly due to higher pressure in the lines. There is less space for brake fluid modulation. (this is a personal theory) You can also modify the brake bias using different brake pads -------------------- 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

I meant that the 4runner master bolts right onto the mr2's. I believe the st205 master is 15/16" not quit sure what ours are. But to be safe I would do the st205 rear brakes also. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

just curious if you put in a "spacer" to adapt the 54.1 of out hub to the 60.1 (i assume) diameter of the new rotors

just curious if you put in a "spacer" to adapt the 54.1 of out hub to the 60.1 (i assume) diameter of the new rotors I actually didn't but I have some hub centric rings on the way. My machine shop was accurate enough that there wasn't any vibration. Those wheels are outstanding! What are they and where can I get them? They are xxr 527's 17/8.25 25mm offset. No spacer needed. Had to roll the fenders a tad. I got them from nlmotoring.com -------------------- |

a spacer that will just slide in and fill in that gap between the rotor and hub center right?
