Edit - incorrect thread, irrelevant original post.

Good luck with the fix Ben.

I haven't really been able to tear into it yet because I haven't had it appraised. I got a phone call yesterday from a total loss agent from the other guys insurance. He said since the airbags came out that it was totalled. I then proceeded to send him 74 pages of receipts. He told me that he may need to get an appraiser to come out to re-evaluate the modified value of the car so that they could give me an accurate settlement. So I'm going to have the vehicle appraised as well just for a second opinion. The front end took a huge blow. The frame rail's where the crash bar mount are bent (hopefully the frame isn't though), the crash bar, intercooler, a/c condenser, radiator, radiator support (upper and lower), and front bumper support are all destroyed. The radiator was pushed into my downpipe, and my cooling fans shattered. Hopefully no major damage to the downpipe. The turbo looks un-touched, but I don't know for sure.

On the bright side the fenders and splitters look like they survived, and she still starts right up.

I'm feeling ok. My knee and back have been hurting, but my arm is starting to heal up from the airbag hit.

Jesus, Ben.

These pictures tore my heart up. It's great that she kept you safe through it all at the cost of her great looks.

When you start building/rebuilding the new car please let me know so I can lend a hand.

Best of luck, brother.

Sorry to hear about the accident, Ben!

Hopefully you can get it back up and buy it back from insurance or something - do you think they'll write it off anyways despite the modified value? kindasad.gif

Just read your last post. I'd go ahead and have it checked for structural damage, if there isn't any or if it's marginal and can be fixed back to where everything is square I'd be fighting them tooth and nail for cost of repair. You should also document any personal injuries you've sustained and possibly even see a doctor to check for damage that won't heal. Of course I'm sure I don't have to tell you any of that, seeing you prepared yourself in other regards. This still pisses me off, more so the more I think about it. This is exactly why they need to make the license test more strenuous and raise the age limit. Dumb ass kids have no business behind the wheel of a lethal weapon...

I haven't been the same physically or mentally since the wreck. They will have a rough time with me signing the first check if it isn't fair.

They have already totalled the car, but I sent 74 pages of receipts, and they had to call in a modified appraiser

Well, hopefully they'll let you buy it back for cheap and all in all will actually make money from the ordeal despite now having a salvaged title....

I hope so too. I don't mind the thought of a salvage title though. I was never planning on selling her.

Well guys...I hate to inform all of you that the Green Machine will not be coming back...

I hope all of you effected by this thread will keep it alive, and keep the knowledge flowing. Please don't delete this thread because I hope that it helps new comers bring their dreams into fruition just like this site has allowed me to realize mine!

I wish you all the best. I'm not deactivating my profile or anything like that, but am going to stay on the board to help anyone who has questions or concerns during their own builds.

Besides...My girlfriend drives a 1997 Celica ST.

They totalled it out completely...Unfortunately a 94 Celica only has a 1200 dollar value...
