Finally got a chance to work on the Celica. I only have Sunday's to work on it, but ever Sunday since my last post have been either freezing cold, snowing, or raining. Finally had a nice day to knock out some of the small projects around the car to get it back on its feet. Still a long way to go. Brian came over to give me a hand, and we got a good bit done. Finally finished the valve train with engle valve springs, and BC titanium retainers, removed the factory intake manifold for a 4th gen manifold to go in it's place. Here are a few pics. Nothing too exciting.

I think it's pretty dirty from sitting, and the amount of pollen that had to have gotten in it is awful. First oil change will be 10 minutes after I start it for the first time lol.

That's about right! I have no idea what I was doing but I think Ben was putting the dizzy back in and I was watching - while waiting to put the valve cover back on. I mainly provide extra hands and tools during these trips not 3S-GTE knowledge. LOL -------------------- Has no more Celicas

Valve train looks great Ben! How much of a pain was it to remove the manifold with the engine in the car?

It really isn't too bad, but you do have to crawl under and crane your neck to get to the bottom bolts. My car also had the anti-lag solenoids in the way since it is a wrc. I'd image that this process is probably easier on non-wrc engines.
Despite a similar design, the 4th gen manifold was incredibly easy to install. I didn't have to get under the car at all to tighten up the bolts, and the amount of clearance that I now have is amazing. I am going to have to modify my fuel return line to make it fit, and work on some tricky electronics to get everything else to work properly, but I'd say so far it seems like a good investment. -------------------- |

Got a little more done...Now I just have to send the pieces back to ATS for them to rework the fabrication.
And then a picture with the 4th gen manifold on. There is a lot of work left to do to adapt it...hope it's all worth it in the end. -------------------- |

Even if it's not, you'll pretend it is just to justify doing it. Looks like you're getting really close to finishing it, or at least to where you can drive it.

Alright guys! I haven't posted in forever, but I'm still here! I've gotten all of the valve work done, and ran into an issue when trying to re-time the engine. My timing belt tensioner bolt's stripped out and created a horrible head ache. Either way the new top end should rev comfortably to 9,000 RPM's. I decided to tow my car from my Dad's place to my new home since getting over to his house on the weekend's has been a challenge. Here are some pictures of the car getting towed on my friends rig. I also had to clean the hell out of my garage to get both cars to fit, but here we go! Many more updates to come!
