So, In my search of finding a new celica to make my own ive been looking for a GT. all i can ever find is ST's. all people will give me is crap from going from a 242hp 5s to a 115hp lawnmower lol. but the celica body style gives me a damn boner and a true 6g enthusiast shouldnt have a problem with owning an ST right? id love to have another GT but in a hatch version but i you cant always get what you want. im looking for a clean nice looking car, good on gas, and something i can mod tastefully inside and out. therefore any version of the 6gc seems to be a perfect fit correct? any thought and opinions on the whole GT ST thing would be awesome.

As you saw, STs are more than "lawn mowers" wink.gif...And i personally don't consider <30mpg to be "good on gas"

dude, trust me. going from the tangerine to an ST is gonna be touture. i hate having to get into my stock auto GT after driving jenns car.
the pull of a 5sfte is somthing thats tough to duplicate, even with a 3s.

I've never driven an ST but I have driven a corolla with the 7AFE in it and its still a good car to drive, pulls almost aswell as the 5SFE and is a smooth motor, the 5SFE has a bit more pull and torque. I know I couldn't cope with any less power but if you haven't got a lead foot like me and you're just going to cruise to work and back get an ST wink.gif.

The 7a is not the fastest car out there and you can get over 30 mpg if your not driving like a pissed off teenager, i have an st and its slow yes, but its fun to drive, good on gas, and pretty reliable. would i like more power? yes of course but i like being able to be cheap at teh pump

To me, I would do it just like an AE86, comparing ST to SR5 and GT to GTS. If you want to build it AT ALL, I'd say get a GT. If you just like the Celica body and want a reliable good MPG DD, ST I guess. The time and money it takes to convert a ST to GT just isn't quite worth it IMO (brakes, options, engine, tranny, mounts if you swap), just like converting a SR5 AE86 to a GTS...unless you get it for like under $500.

Personally, I would get a GT no matter what if I were in the market for a 6gc.

I wouldn't say no to a GT by any means, the one I drove was well into 300k and impressed me. What I would like is a manual tranny.

Find an stx. Maxed out options on an st basically, good gas, reliable, and still the ability to mod. Nuff said. You have tangerine, you want gas and style, stx is the logical option.

Brent, I told you. Even Manny agrees.

Swap it out then. I got all the shots you'd need, and the rest of the info is all over here. It wasn't as hard as i though in the end. Honestly!!

...For that matter, neither was the engine swap. Surprisingly smooth...
