All I gotta say is at least they're genuinely concerned for the well-being of their customers by recalling the problem vehicles. Not like Ford with their Pinto in the 70s or the Pontiac Fiero.

At least its not AS big of deal this time...

Smaller issue than 2nd gen eclipses getting crank walk even...and those never got recalled, kind of like what Hector was talking about with other vehicles.

At least Toyota is doing the right thing and fixing their issues... still ****ty though.

@ neon - never actually heard of that happening, maybe if you screw with the engine and don't build it properly then yes. besides, they are between 12-17 years old man. everything wears out after a while and breaks down.

@ mak - yes that is very true! I just wanted to post this on here in case someone on the forum has one smile.gif

The fix involves inspecting for fuel leaks and tightening the fuel-pressure sensor, if necessary, Toyota says.

QUOTE
Toyota said it would begin notifying owners by first-class mail once repair parts become available, but didn't specify a date.

lol?

They are. We had engineers from Toyota fly over from Japan at our dealership on Monday to check out a Rav4 with an issue with it's transmission. The one thing about Toyota unlike all other car companies is that they will actually stop production until they resolve the problem. If they can't figure it out, then it gets 86'd. Most other car companies still produce and try to fix it. It was cool to have them fly out here, as they travel world wide trying to understand what is going on with their cars. Also, Toyota outsold other car companies by 8% for 2010. They really are shooting for top car company in the world, if they aren't already. I know in the USA, they were No.2 for the longest next to GM, and now hold the top rank. BOOYAH! Despite the recalls....

Right now we are getting recalls for the Avalons lately, and still with the Tundras for the brake pedal... I seen an old(er) Sienna have paperwork on it regarding a recall... I dunno what that was about or if they just simply been putting it off for so long (the customer).

Anyways... yeah. Recalls we have are not major issues, just that those who hate on Toyota wanna make a big deal out of it, even though their US favorite car companies have had far worse throughout their existence and for much longer.

^^^ Very true. The recalls have actually made us technicians alot more money than we have been used to biggrin.gif Business is a little slow now but yes the recalls really aren't a big problem like most people believe. They are mostly precautionary things like rust prevention in the frame, cables, and pedal shaving. Hazzah for Toyota making their plastic interiors cheaper tho hahah. Can't beat the 90's quality of Toyota!

Seriously! I love my interior. Granted, 18 grand for a car wasn't necessarily cheap in '97...but the interior in my Celica is one of my favorite interiors EVER.
