OK, so my clutch needs to be replaced. I figure i can do this myself or take it to a shop.
As far as mechanical experience goes i have done just about everything that isnt under the hood . Is this something that is easy enough to do with proper instructions? If i do it myself, how do i select the clutch kit i need? comparing for instance Oreilly's stock replacement to ACT stock replacement there is a large difference in price, is there any benefit to this other than saying i have so and so's brand clutch? Also, if i do take it to a shop should i bring in my own parts or just trust them to pick one? they always seem to mark up the parts quite a bit wherever i go. As far as the engine is concerned this car only has an aftermarket air intake, so a stock clutch should be fine. I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times, i couldn't find the answers to my questions using search. Also, i just moved to Seattle recently, and i know some of you guys are here, i would be happy to drive somewhere and pay someone that knows what they are doing a fair price to show me how this is done. i would also appreciate any information on a good auto shop. Thanks This post has been edited by Stu37363: Jan 22, 2011 - 5:24 AM |

Thanks either clutch brands will work. both are OEM replacements so its all good. as far as bringing the clutch to a shop, thatd probly be cheaper for you if you dont want to do it yourself. Itll be hard to do it yourself without proper tools. Fwd clutch replacement is harder than RWD, IMO. ive only ever replaced my clutch while the engine was out so either take out the engine or drop the transaxle. Clutch replacement on a FWD car is one of the more complicated home fixes. if your not to knowledgeable in under the hood mechanics i would suggest taking it to a shop This post has been edited by SeverX13: Jan 22, 2011 - 1:11 AM -------------------- QUOTE ‹Superaison› i'm a computer inclined guy.. ‹Superaison› or girl. idk what gender I am anymore. ‹SeverX13› *facepalm* QUOTE suprakid: o sh!t suprakid: i wanna get an obama chia pet SeverX13: hahahahaha |
