I believe green = non premixed while the red is premixed.
My car had the green in it and i topped it off with red to clear my code 54, will be flushing it out entirely and running red. -------------------- current project: looking :(

Toyota uses their own brand of Red coolant in all of their cars. Why? basically so that they can sell you coolant for your vehicle and make the money instead of some other coolant company. There really is no difference between red and green. They will both do the job of cooling your engine.
If your car currently has green in it, then just keep using the green stuff. If you have the red stuff, then keep using that. Simple as that. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

No Problem man.
I ran the Preistone stuff before (always after swaps cause i believe it helps to clean out the new engines- about 3k then flush and replace with Toyota brand) Mechanicaly speaking, it wont hurt anything. As long as you have some kind of coolent in there, Hell you can use plain water... you'll have to refill it every few miles lol, but it'll keep ur engine running in a pinch. That OEM stuff lasts forever though. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Damn D-Man - most impressive. Anyone in a warm enough climate can use just water, it's just wise to put in an anti corrosive additive. |

What do you mean you'll have to refill it? well at sea level, water boils at 100C... The highest point of the world (tip of mt everest) It boils at 72C~ last time i checked, Our engines normal operating tempature is much hotter than either of those figures. Water works just fine, But it also evaporates with usage. Therefore you have to refill it (with moar water) It's no big deal though, It's just water. (free at your local water spicket- lol) toyota red coolant does not have chemicals in it that green does that can eat away are seals or gaskets. they come with red for a reason. just get the red and not have any issues Also a good point to mention. Good lookin out Smaay. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Damn D-Man - most impressive. Good lookin out Smaay. ahhh d-man...your forgetting about the radiator cap raising the boiling point. in reality, the best coolant would be plain distilled water, it absorbs and releases the heat better than any antifreeze mix does, but, you need lubricants, anticorrosion protection, and freeze protection, so we use anti-freeze coolant. mixed properly, any coolant will do the job in our cars. i've used all kinda brands, and colors over the years..no noticable diffrence in day to day driving with any of them. now, if your tracking your car on the regular, ...you may want to be more selective in what you use, but generally, i just use whatever is in the car to begin with, and try not to mix brands/colors. (if your switching brands or colors, its always best to flush the system completely before adding new coolant. Coolant? I just run water, and water wetter in my chargecooler system. Never ran into any problems with that setup.....only real reason is because coolant just got extra expensive for me at one point, when i had to keep taking my engine out to diagnose clutch/tranny problems last year....kept it simple with the water and havent gone back to coolant...

ahhh d-man...your forgetting about the radiator cap raising the boiling point. yeah, it's cause wiki.com didn't have an aprox number for that (lol if you think i actually remember those numbers from back in middle school!) OP- In the end it's all usable man. Everyone just has a different preference on the kind/amount of "conditioner" to run threw there with it. Just dont run it dry and you'll be fine. -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Damn D-Man - most impressive. As a side note, you should never run just plain water in your coolant system. You should always use distilled water, as presure2 said. Otherwise, we're beating a dead horse here. Any coolant will work, don't mix coolants, etc.
