3SGTE into Auto Trans, If you dont know then dont reply Options

If I knew the 3s could bolt up to a 5s auto(level10 T.C. of coarse) I would most likley buy a motor, drive the 3000GT for a while and put it up. Im asking becuase Ive heard tonight someone has done it. Cant find out who though. Wirring aside the families should meet up in the mounts and built T.C. will more than do the job, so essentially yea. But theres always a negative I know having a manual would help in the lowe aspects of HP like 230 but the question being would it work? I quess the plan would be too sit the motor in the basement clean tha crap out of it and slowly start an install(this is where I would learn all about cars and internals) This question is geared more toward the veterans of the site, not to be rude but if your hazzy then dont reply.
Me and Macaveley were talking tonight and I greaw very upset with the motors that Toyota decided to give both Celicas. Its funny we always say that the U.S. gets shafted on their moters but how so. Look at the the Supra, RX-7, 3000GT VR-4, 300Z all higher whp than J-spec but the celica went to 250 down to 135 or 115. A Turbo kit just would seem right but price seems so and the motors CAN handle some boost. But If I can learn about the motor and take my time I have a high learning curve. This whole thing sucks a honda SI just seems so much more feasible N/A those things can hit 210-220 WHP throw some boost in instead and you have have a car that can easily compete with the almighty 3s (I know some of you have seen those SI that destroyed a Viper on the trac) But I own a 6GC and thats that. So you think it would work?

Not exactly sure what you're trying to ask, but yes...a 3sgte CAN bolt up to an Auto trans... however, you'll need a JDM ECU from a Toyota Carina (3sgte powered auto tranny). Preferably you get that tranny also, being it's built for the boost. Mechanically speaking, it'll bolt up. Electronically speaking... NO USDM 3sgte ECU's will work (not sure if they'll work correctly, or whatever...) with the auto tranny, since all of the 3sgte powered cars in the US (and most other places) always came with 5speed transaxles.

For your second paragraph, the Celicas started gettin toned down after the 4th gens... the 6th gens by far are the least exciting amoungst all of the other generations, older and newer. IMO, they're the best looking though. Basically, toyota probably stuck with the 5sfe and 7afe because in the US, at the time, there was no huge demand for high-powered sport compacts. Especially imports. If you look at back during that time, there were no other sport cars really competeing against the celicas (early 90's). Off the top of my head, there was the 240sx (not really even in the same class), Integra (again, not really in the same class), and that's all I can really think of. Toyota was probably think conservative when they designed the US Spec 6th gen celicas. Why drop a 180hp motor to compete against no-one...

On Civic SI's... neat little cars, however, if you've ever driven one (older coupe ones...not the new HB), you'll quickly love the crap out of your celica's low-end power. B16's are FLAT. FLAT torque off idle around 90-105 ft lbs till around 6000 rpms where it jumps to around 115 or so. Those things are no fun to drive around... although they make excellent high-end power, most people don't rev their cars to 8000 rpms on a daily basis...

this is just a though about the ECU situation.. I know that when doing a auto to manual swap you can just reroute a few of the wires to make the ecu work as a manual.. would this be possible to reverse? I dont personally know alot about wiring so it proably wont work but is a thought

Actually it was neon on the track, There ia an illegal street race with the civic and Viper civic won but not by much.
