Ok i searched but i couldnt find answers, just that it has been done. What does it take to put the ST205 oil system on a 2nd gen 3S-GTE? this will make my new turbo setup on my All-Trac so much easer.

like what exactly? the oil cooler, pump, or what? the filter is the same between the gens so the oil cooler will simply "bolt" on, just run coolant lines to it.

The filter fits fine, but that is not his problem I think. Also the 2nd gen has his oilcooler directly bolted underneath the oilfilter, where the 3rd gen has the cooler at the same place as the 2nd gen but the oilfilter itself is located much lower. Oilpumps are offcourse at the same place on both generations
@Smaay: Are you talking about filter relocation? -------------------- JDM ST205

there are a couple holes that need to be drilled and tapped for the 3rd gen windage tray, and modify the 3rd gen oil cooler to return coolant to the back of the block.

The oilfilter on a st205 is not mounted on the oilpan, but on the shortblock. So putting on a 3rd gen oilpan on your st185 engine wouldn't make much of a difference.

is it really? i thought the 3rd gen had a 2 piece pan like the 7A does. the larger girdle sction had the filter mount and then a smaller pan mounts to that.

here look at this pic. you can see in teh corner that the oil filter is on a girdle that is bolted to the bottom of the block.
![]() cant this just be put on the 2nd gen block with a 3rd gen oil pump and make the changes to the oil cooler? http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=370398 This post has been edited by Smaay: Mar 8, 2011 - 11:32 AM -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo
