ok so my wife has decided to get rid of her Honda SMX to get something smaller that she can see over the dash better, and she just so happened to decide she wanted a 6th gen celica. we found one its a 1998 ST20? A/T with the BEAMS engine. everything looks to be completely stock, 90,000KM with a new timing belt. they want $2980 for it. what do you guys think. my wife really likes it from the pictures and it really looks like its in good condition. is this a good deal? also what is out there for them? is it something that i can tinker with on the side when im out of stuff to do to my ST205 and is it expensive? i want to get it especially since i have a body kit and a C-ONE hood for it already. let me know what you guys think....

I think that's a fantastic price; half of what I paid for my '99.
And it'd be an ST202 SS-III BEAMS if I remember correctly. This post has been edited by Keiri: Mar 19, 2011 - 9:38 AM -------------------- Has no more Celicas

here are the pictures that the guy sent me. we're going to test drive it tom. plus i told her that im taking her headlights for mine im sure you know y lol mine is a 94. then i ended up finding a set of projectors in a junk yard today right after we looked at the car it was awsome so she gets to keep her headlights.
so about my other question. is there parts for this thing that would need to be BEAMS specific out there? exhaust stuff like that are the same for the FWD models but like i see it has what looks like a MAF sensor so is there intakes for it that will work? stuff like that? i dont know as much about the BEAMS specifically so i have some learning to do. |

*whistle* 3L2, Kouki-trim cloth seats, and the engine bay is super clean. Even with the paint smudge on the rear bumper I'd easily pay 2980 for it as long as the compression is good and the transmission wasn't slipping.
As far as the MAF sensor goes, there are some BEAMS specific parts available: http://www.rhdjapan.com/pinpoint_result?ke...p;x=28&y=16 Also, Norberto (njccmd2002) has a BEAMS and he'd be one of the best sources of information. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

so we went and test drove it today. its really nice, and smooth. and sits high so that good for her. its has some power but not a bunch but im also used to my st205 for a completely stock NA its not bad. she decided she wants it so we put a downpayment on it. the guy is guna get the couple things that wrong with it fixed then we'll have it. timing belt, brakes, and the traction control light is on, so all thatll get fixed before we actually go get it. if anyone comes across some parts or nething for it let me know so i can take a look at them.

Mine is an auto and still a blast to drive (I usually just auto-stick it since they made the tranny able to do so anyway). But I'm more thinking....GREAT, another person to compete for parts with...
*edit* oh and for an intake, I use one from a late 90's 4runner and it works great, but just had to get a proper sized silicone adapter. This post has been edited by blackthunder: Mar 21, 2011 - 4:05 AM -------------------- -Dan

Keep in mind that the top radiator hose is not in very good nick, and the radiator top tank is nearly stuffed too (tell by the colours)
Otherwise good find. -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

All you need to do is buy this : http://www.amazon.com/Short-Induction-Inta.../dp/B002W5XHI8/ cut it and buy a 71mm piping that has a 80-90 degree bend like mine and it works great. -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts
