Ok so a few months ago I trade my winter beater truck for a 94' Celica GT. needs bodywork but runs great. Has over 200k on body but only 100k on 2.2L engine and 5 speed trans. So i gave this car to my girl and we have been toying with the idea of making it fast. My idea is that my buddy has a 91' MR2 turbo that has a 3SGTE engine in it. and when he got it, he was given an extra 3SGTE block. so i was thinking of maybe buildng that up and maybe putting that into the celica with a turbo (probly a CT20b or something). my question is. how easy are these engine to mount into the celica and get working? can i use the stock trans? and what kind of ecu or tuning software will i need?? Or should i just throw a turbo on the stock 2.2L motor? I basically just want some advice cuz these cars are a little new for me. Im a expert in the 3s field ;-)

I wouldn't use the word easy, but doable FOR SURE. Just do lots of research and go through the stickys on this site, everything you need is up here.

ok so anything i would need to do the swap I could get ahold of? im guessing its a somewhat common swap for people to do. I just know that my friends MR2 pretty much just has basic bolt ons and a ct20b turbo at 18psi and that thing rips! i think it would be a nasty sleeper in the celica

Your going to need to go searching for parts, if all you have is the block, some harder to find than others. read the stickies, the engine basically bolts right into a gt, and you can use your stock tranni if its good.
But the 3s is one of the most popular swaps, i just bought mine. Theres a guy on the site _Jim_ (search that) who lives in jersey and sells complete 3s swaps, with plug and play harnesses. I would PM him, as he prob has most of the parts you are going to need to do a swap, or could easily get his hands on them GL there are a ton of threads and stickies for the swap, read up -------------------- |
