I received my motor a little while ago and since have been sourcing parts and getting it ready to go. Few details on the setup, it is a 3rd gen 3sgte motor set that I got thru Jim, it was the motor from his 19k mile clip. My wiring harness was extended my Phoenix Tuning. I also got a Gen 3 E153 transmission w/ LSD and necessary axles, brackets, mounts, and shift linkage for that from Jim as well. Currently much of the motor is taken apart and being cleaned up, some of it painted. I have also been buying parts like crazy for it over the past half year or so, here is what I have so far.
The E153. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Clutch Masters FX300 (Stage 3) clutch and Competition Clutch 12 lbs. light weight steel flywheel. Valve cover gasket kit, PCV valve, Thermostat Berk 3" Down pipe, fully loaded Denso O2 sensor Berk Technology Gen 3 vacuum line kit Walbro 255 HKS SSQV 3 AEM oil pressure, UEGO wideband, and boost gauges and sandwich plate. HKS Turbo Timer HKS Carbon TI, plan is to have a straight pipe from my downpipe to this. My intercooler had no cap, so I'm just going to put my stock one on the IC and throw this on the radiator. Will put these in when I get cams, got them for a ridiculous deal. Like 100 shipped for both brand new... Will get some pics of the painted parts when they are done drying. I peeled the "Toyota 2000 Twin Entry Turbo" Sticker off the IC and sanded it down and sprayed it with some high temp paint. I also put some of that heat shield tape under it, so hopefully it will stay cool because my Girlfriend's mom's boyfriend is airbrushing some stuff on it. So hopefully it turns out good and doesn't melt, haha. I'll try and keep you guys updated. Thanks for the support guys! I cannot wait to start making some more progress on this! Definitely not in any hurry or taking shortcuts. Making sure I do everything right and don't forget to do anything that I'm going to kick myself in the butt for later for not doing.
i perfer cam gears with more than 3 bolt down spots, but as long as you loctite them, you should be fine, guys have been using that style for years. Yeah, I honestly don't know much about cam gears. I've read some places, people install them without cams? Which seems pointless to me? I don't even know.. I plan on waiting until I get cams though. Only reason I went with these ones like I said, was I bought them from a store that was shutting down and they were trying to get rid of them for like 90 + shipping, so I figured I'd hop on em. Yup, people (including myself) have installed cam gears without instaling aftermarket cams.
You can tailor the powerband with them, guys have picked up 15whp tuning in just the exhaust cam in a genII -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

dont worry about cam gears having only 3 bolts.
If people like HKS, Gates, AEM etc only use 3, and these are the highest of reputable brands with engines making many many hundreds of kw i think they will be fine for joe average. Must be a late model engine (being that low miles i guess so) The timing cover is different to what mine was (much neater), (not that it matters because i dont use the top one). Some good little mods your starting off with there, Good work on the lsd box. Gen3 have slightly better cams then gen2 so you might not get the same gain, but retarding the exhaust 3-4 deg or so should net some benifits. -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

Just working on ordering the remaining stuff I need. I'm buying an Exedy stage 2 clutch and possibly a flywheel. I have a question for some of you, and I know this is kind of vague..but do you think daily driving is still going to be manageable with a Fidanza flywheel or should I probably just resurface my stock flywheel? I've driven light flywheels, but never on a FWD car or car with this much power, so I am kind of stuck and don't know what to do.
Another question, where are you swappers getting your hoses? Anywhere in particular? Something I gotta start keeping an eye out for. Thanks in advanced guys! -------------------- 2006 BMW 330i - 6 Speed - Dinan Stage 1

Thanks in advanced guys! for my swap, im just reusing the stock 3sgte flywheel and resurfacing it. i was going to get a ultra light weight flywheel but i was told by some of the motor heads its really not worth it for the money, unless your going to go big downt he road i guess. so im using the stock flywheel, thats just me. and im reusing the 5sfe hoses as long as they are good, most of them will be reuseable, some you just have to buy some hose and make it work lol. -------------------- st205 powered ss3 coupe

Curious as to how the a/c and heater core will hook up? what exactly do you mean? the heater core hoses are in the same spot st/gt/gt-4 the main AC lines in the bay are the same gt/st, just the 2 front sections are diffrent, but you can just bend the ac lines to fit. as for the LW flywheel, to me it depends on your clutch, more than the flywheel. if you have a heavy PP with a disk that dont like to be slipped, a LW flywheel will just exasperate that. its manageable (i have a stage 4 comp clutch thats pretty heavy, with a fidanza), but definetly is not as easy to manage as stock. dustin and steff have a LW flywheel, with a stock clutch, and its just great. incredibly light pedal feel, super smooth engagement, and the quicker revs of the lw flywheel. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Yeah, I should have specified. I was more talking Samco or other silicon hoses, there are a couple that I need. I can reuse a few. I changed my clutch decision, so that may change my ultimate flywheel decision as well. We'll see by the end of the day, haha. -------------------- 2006 BMW 330i - 6 Speed - Dinan Stage 1
