Ok i got my tranny out but could not get the driver side cv axle out. Is there a clip or something? The boot slipped off of it so its just the splined piece in the tranny. Any thoughts?

I got it off but can I just get a new clamp for the boot since it came off?

Not that Ive rebuilt these things before, but I think that you need the grease to be compatible or else it winds up nasty. But if nothing is wrong with it, why not give it a try?

I just went through the same thing with my ST. I had it up on jack stands and after trying rope around the CV cup, and everything else I could think of, banging away finally worked.

There is a snap ring around the drive, it takes a sharp rap and it will pop out. It will come out, I swore I was not doing anything but I beat on it for about 20 minutes and it finally popped.

I bought a new CV drive from the store for 78 bucks, so IMO just buy a new one. I don't know what your situation is financially, but it seems the logical choice.
