Well , all went well and i got the 97 st yesterday! I was determined to get it, and i went through alot...
I got up at 7 am to leave to get it.... But my parents didn't show up until 8 45 when we had to be there
at 9, but i convinced the guy to call off work so we could get it yesterday.. haha... after that we were finally
on the road, but 30 minutes into the trip a Tire blew out on the tow dolly!!! i think god seriously wanted me
to get this celica because it blew out right in front of a salvage yard and after spending ten dollars and 20 minutes
finding the right tire, i was able to get it switched onto the rim! they even gave me the tools to take it off and put
it back on thankfully!!

After that i finally made it to the garage where it was at and was checking it out and the guy showed up... i was wondering
how i was going to get the car onto the dolley since it needed a new engine... but oh my did i luck out!! Soooo.. all thats wrong
is it has the slightest tick i've ever heard in my life... my dad (30 year mechanic At prat and whitney for the military) said its just
a bearing i think if i remember correctly! So anyways i was able to start it up and drive it right up onto the dolley! And if thats the
case, if all goes well i should have this baby back up and running on the road within a couple weeks smile.gif

check her out!!

Thanks man! i appreciate it! smile.gif

and i already have some blacked out stock tails i was considering putting on it..
and if i don't sell my st205 kouki tail lights, i might just put them on it! i think
that'd make it look pretty sweet!

Today i also bought some blacked out turn signals from another member along with
an oem strut bar, and megan racing strut bar! those shall be the first additions put on
as soon as we get it running right, and as soon as some people send me some money for items
they've bought i shall be ordering a full set of custom interior items from vincent doggy..
pretty much everything he makes for the interior! i love his workk! smile.gif props VD

Nice pick up! Props for the 5speed, definately a more fun choice =P

Vincent does surely have the goods, sometimes it takes a bit to get to ya, but you grow to expect it, considering you can't get his stuff anywhere else!

Well, i started tearing it apart this morning and didn't get too far just yet, just got the valve cover off, along with dropping the bottom part of the oil pan.. i would of got both parts off, but i had to remove a part of the exhaust and after that it was too late for me to really do anything else, because i had to quit early so i could go home and get ready.. but in about 5 or 6 hours i'm going to head back to the garage and continue to tear it apart... i'll be sure to take some more pics so i can keep you guys updated!

i guess from what i'm hearing, were just going to try replacing the Rod bearings ? if thats what they're called? someone can correct me if need be, but i'll make it easier.. from what i know (not much, haha) there are two types of bearings.. rod bearings and main bearings (correct?) ... and were going to see if we replace the rod bearings if the tiny little ticking noise goes away.. Hopefully tongue.gif

Doesn't a 7A-FE tick normally...from the valves if I remember correctly...I know mine ticks like crazy, but was only really really noticable after adding the ebay header. I've always worried abot knocking, more then ticking on Yota engines...someone correct me if i'm wrong..

Looks pretty clean under that valve cover to me..

I don't know but i know my old 94st didn't have a tick at all and it had 212k miles on it...

this one was pretty irratic and you couldnt hear it too bad at first but when you revved it up you could
hear it pretty bad...

when we dropped the oil pan and pulled off the little u shaped thingy it was pretty scarred up and they said it definately needed new bearings and hopefully that would fix the problem.

that u shaped thingy is the thrust bearing. You may be able to get away with just replacing the bearings but I have to wonder what caused them to go out in the first place... toyota engines dont just loose bearing like that you know! I'd imagine the engine was oil starved for a bit, and if that was the case then there might be other parts of the engine that need servicing as well. Either way thats a great looking car you have there and its good to see you going the distance and staying with a 6g. good luck with your rebuild you'll love your celica all the more once its fixed up
