Hey everyone.. The time has finally came.. I've had my car for 6 years now.. And have came a long way.. From making my car stock to looking like a beast.. Now finally i'm swapping a 3rd gen 3s into her and completing the beast.. March 13 was my start date.. Took my hood and front bumper off and drove it down to my dads shop. Here are some pics
Pic after removing hood and bumper. Starting to pull the motor at the shop. After 3 hours we finally got the engine pulled from the car.. My very first DR TWEAK pose lol The next day my 3rd gen 3sgte came in with the e153 trany (limited slip) Couple pics of the engine.. Next thing was taking the awd trany off and getting the engine on a stand. \ Few pics of engine on the stand. Next we took the intake manifold and throttle body off to get my wiring harness off Can see the harness laying on the ground lol. Then we started to take the timing cover off. Did our marking, and started taking cam gears off, valve cover off, Heat shields, and took my oil pans off. Here are pics of us doing them things. After we did that.. We put the new oil pump on. And the new Water pump. And re-sealed both the oil pans.. Here are a couple pics of that getting done This pic is with new idler pulley and tensioner pulley, new water pump oil pump. And replaced cam seals. Put cams on And ready for timing belt.. as of now what we have done.. New cam seals, new oil pump, new water pump, idler pulley, tensioner pulley, new timing belt.. And the timing all put back together. And re sealed both oil pans.. This last sunday. I got my valve cover back, put that on. Here is a pic of how the engine sits right now. I think there have been more 3s swaps in the past year then i've seen on the forums the entire time i've been here.
I think its from everyone working together and sharing information when others ask, and the how to section. Anyways, the swap is coming along really quick! -------------------- 2nd Gen 3s-gte.... It lives!

Alright guys more pics like you asked for.. Yesterday went down to the shop and started on the turbo and exhaust side of the engine.. Here are few pics.
This pic is after we got the exhaust manifold and the turbo taken off.. Here is a pic of us replacing the water line seals and starting to take the oil cooler and adapter off. Here is a pic of the oil cooler and adapter back on with new seals, and the new hoses from hell replaced also. Here is a pic of the exhaust manifold and the turbo. We replaced every gasket and seal on that before put it back on. Lastly here is a pic of the manifold and turbo back on car after replacing all seals and hoses. And i cleaned up the block and turbo a little bit more Hope you guys enjoy.. Will have more updates as they come.. -------------------- |

the only thing i noticed, was the worm clamp on the HFHOE (the hose off the oil cooler to the block)
that area gets quite hot, i'd be worried about the clamp cutting into the soft rubber over time and creating a leak. couldnt see it last night from my ipod. looking great tho man, your making great progress! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Just curious why you didnt spin your turbo housing to make it easier to run the intercooler?

thanks manny. about the clamps i'll have to let my dad know about that.. only reason there on there is because my dad hates the metal clamps. every car he works on that has those and has to replace them he puts the screw clamps on. so will let him know. may change that back if going to create problems. and about turbo i'm leaving it there because i've purchased intercooler and piping already done for the set up.

Just curious why you didnt spin your turbo housing to make it easier to run the intercooler? because its not that easy. you can just spin the compressor housing, without creating a place to mount the wastegate, so that it works properly. you'd be suprized how much that little rod will flex a peice of metal. besides, clocking the turbo down really dont save much as far as piping (its litterally one less bend) for a stock turbo setup, the trouble to do it really isnt worth the hassle and potential issues. now, once you go to another turbo with an external gate, the game changes. celiracer, your dad must be old school..lol most old school guys i talk to hate them as well, but as long as they are in good working order, they are a better choice for those locations, for the exact reason i discribed above. the worm drive clamps will bite into the rubber, especially if you sinch them down tight. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
