did u do the wires your self ? if so yes that could be the problem your car sound like my caldina wen i tired to wire it my self lol but it also sounds like my egr on my 1.8 wen it went bad my car would go over 15mph ontill i got a new one did u check your tps and your vac lines have to be hooked up the right way not just anyway and do u have the right ecu to that engine ? did u check your spark plugs and make sure u dont have a misfire ? and the egr the only reall way to check it is to get a new one u cant just look at it and tell

and it kinda sounds like your engine is flooding but it sounds like the egr to hmmmmmmmmm did u check your injectors they could be stuck

here pick one of these three i think one of these is your problem your EGR your TPS or your INJECTORS ....look at your tps <====might be bad oooo i forgot to your MAP sensor check thattt one of those is your problem because they will all make your car do what it is doing right now

ive checked all that before the problem i was driving and it just suddenly have i got on hte high way and everything and i could go over 60 mph but it wouldnt go past like 2500 rpms like ive checked the injectors switched that out the vacs are hooked up right so im thinking that the plugs might have gone bad so im checkin to see if there is a pinch in the wire somewhere but i might have to check out the egr and the tps

yeah it sounds like your egr is going bad but u should check your tps sensor to it sounds like one of those if your timing was off your car wouldn't run right wen u start it up it would sound like crap but it sounds fine when u start it so try to get a new egr and to check your tps just unplug it and see if it does the same thing if so thats your problem
