Hey I think my CV axels is bad. When I jack the car up and run the wheels it is making a lot of noise, also when I just turn the passanger wheel back and forth, it make a clunking noise where the driver side CV meet the transmission. I pulled on it and it moves in and out (is there suppose to be play there?).

My question is If I replace both CV axel, would that help the problem? or is there something deeper? oh and what do you guys recommend getting... reman cv axels or new one?

I found these at advanceauto for new, not sure about the quality on them...

Hey mate, It's normal for there to be minimal play pulling on it but it shouldn't have any play up and down if that makes sense. Does it clunk in the car? if not then I wouldn't worry.

I had a clunk recently, bought a new box as I predicted it was that and the axles just needed grease now its fine! Theres so many things a clunk could be, if its an on and off accelerator clunk then its more than likely axles or gearbox related but theres every chance its not, go over every bolt and see if they're tight! I mean even the bolts holding the control arms on. Also might aswell check for movement in other suspension end links, tie rods and ball joints although that can sometimes be hard to pinpoint.

Yeah, Clunk in when I am accelerating and when I let go of the gas and steping on it again. I am going to have to change my axle either way because the boots are torn. When I start the engine, there seem to be a loud clunk too. Creaking noise when I turn the wheel lol. The tierod/ball joint is good as far as I know... just replaced them recently and I am waiting for a nice day to work on the control arm bushing. hopefully once I finish with the axle, control arm everything will be fine, I'll take your advice and go over every nuts and bolt... maybe check out the motor mount too

Yeah could be mounts too, forgot about that. Just to let you know, inner cv's are the ones that clunk, if the boots there are torn then its most likely that, outer cv's clunk on corners and do the notorious cv clunk.
