Hi everyone, my name is Rob and I joined this forum almost 3 years ago when I was looking for a new daily. Wasn't able to find a 6th gen at the time that was clean enough so I ended up picking up a 7th gen which I still own now. Problem is, it's riddled with problems, need a paint job, transmission is on it's way out and many other problems that fixing it right now didn't make sense financially. So I went off on the hunt for a 6th gen again and checked out a few with no luck. The car was never what it was described as on the phone or in the ad. So finally, I found what looked to be too good of a deal about 4 hours from me in Point Edward (Sarnia, Ontario). Called the owner and got as much info as I could and the car sounded worth the drive. So I hopped in the car and headed out there with my dad to keep me company. When I got there, the car was exactly as described and has one small spot of surface rust on the front fender about an inch long and 1/2 an inch high.

Took it for a drive and fell in love with it and put down my deposit, will be picking it up Wednesday biggrin.gif

Here's a shot of it from the sales ad, only thing that needs fixing was the car was backed into right after they posted it online so it's got a nice big dent in the drivers door. Will probably be sourcing a replacement door as the dent looks too much to fix.

I'll have some more pictures on Wednesday for sure.

I still have my 7th gen and will be keeping it as a back up for now and making it a project in the future. I sold a 1991 Toyota Soarer Twin Turbo for the funds to pick up the 6th gen and I can't wait to go pick it up!

Here's a few pics of my current cars

My Soarer that I sold and is being picked up tomorrow

My current daily 7th gen GTS, it's a 6 speed manual and I will miss the power it makes, goes really well. She looks a little beat up, she's been backed into a few times

And my current project AE86 hatch. I've had this car for 10 years and have stripped it down and will be building it back up as a weekend drift/fun car.

As she sits now

Anyways, that's my story

Hope to become an active member of the forums, thanks!

Thanks!

The local scrap yard near me has 2 6th gens, just need to hope the doors are good. I'll be going this weekend to go see.

I'm planning on swapping over my 7th gen rims with some new tires and grabbing some Tanabe coilovers once I sell off some parts I have laying around. Maybe an exhaust but I just want to keep it clean for now.

Thanks! Haha, you could say that. I've owned 7 AE86's and aside from a Nissan 240sx and a Mazda RX-7, it's been all Toyotas biggrin.gif They haven't steered me wrong yet so I keep sticking with them.

Seeing what you have in your stable, I'm expecting some great things for this 6GC. Good luck and welcome.

SwissFerdi - Thanks for the kind words. I hope I can make it look half as good as some of the cars on this site. Lots of nice ones on here!!

HectortheRican - I'd love to, problem is it's been sitting as a shell for about 3 years now. I had a car accident in my 7th gen and I wasn't able to work on it at all. It's currently full of stuff in my garage just waiting to be worked on and hopefully I can start the body soon and get to fixing her up. Once I get some progress, i'll definitely start a progress thread.

smkr3w - Thanks, I bought the Soarer after starting a project SC400 to get a feel for the car since I never actually was able to drive the SC and I realized it's not the car for me. After driving small cars like the 86 and Celica, it's just way too much car and feels like driving my couch lol.

Damn! Due to the buyer of my Soarer backing out, I've lost the opportunity to purchase that minty 6th gen I was going to get. I'll still be lingering around and once the Soarer sells, will be looking for another 6gc, possibly a GT-Four if I can find one since they are legal in Canada.
