Hello I've got the 94 gt 2.2liter and was wondering if any brand of spark plugs give you better mileage in the this motor?
Thanks, |

All the same sh*t when they're new isn't it? I'll say NGK Iridium IX because they pay for themselves by performing like new several services beyond what a regular plug does.
IF they turn out to be 4x the price or higher compared with regular plugs though you'll probably be better off spending that extra money elsewhere like maybe some oil if you need a change or a topup, gearbox oil is a good one too, most regular folk will own a car for a long time and overlook gearbox oil. -------------------- Mike W

can the 5S-FE and 3S-GE Spark plugs use the same kind of plug. Or should I buy Iridium Spark Plugs for the 1ZZ-FE Engine??? or better yet the 2ZZ-GE Engine
Edit just check out this link and the part number for the 1zz-fe and 5sfe are the same. The 2zz-ge part number is different!! which one to get?? This post has been edited by BonzaiCelica: Apr 26, 2011 - 2:33 AM -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

And I also got this one from a New Zealand Altezza forum for NGKs: BKR6EIX-11. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

use the 1ZZ plugs, the 2ZZ uses a step colder plug, unless you are boosting or juicing you dont need it.

use the 1ZZ plugs, the 2ZZ uses a step colder plug, unless you are boosting or juicing you dont need it. lets not forget the compression ratio of the beams and 2zz are near the same. Well yes I'm going with the NGK Iridium. Stock gap for the plug comes in at .044 for the 5sfe, 1zz-fe and 2zzge. Do I need to adjust the gap. Is there a wrong way of installing the spark plugs?? here's denso website on how to install the plugs do I have to torque them down to exact specs???? -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

Using your fingers, screw the spark plug into the cylinder head, and tighten about 1/4-1/2 turn with a plug wrench. (Taper seat plug: about 1/16 turn)
thats all you need to do -------------------- Mike W

(Taper seat plug: about 1/16 turn) thats all you need to do well I dont have a plug wrench. Only a 14 deep socket and a quarter inch ratchet. So I tighten it by hand with the 14mm socket and then half a turn with the ratchet attached to the 14mm deep socket and thats it? -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

yeah finger tight first, then with your plug socket, use a gentle steady hand, lightly twist it closed fully (no force at all) until you reach the end and give it a little yank to finish it off.
think of if you were using a bent key that was about to break to open your car. you want enough force to open the lock, but so little to avoid breaking the key. thats how you tighten plugs, but yeah it will work out to about 1/4 of a turn from finger tight to properly tight if u do it like that thats why they say 1/4 I think plugs are stainless steel, the head is aluminum so you will stip your thread in your head 1st -------------------- Mike W

plug tools only cost like $10 at ur local auto parts. i use 2 fingers and a thumb on the handle of it, not my whole hand, and the handle is only skinny.
so on your 14mm socket you'll probably use a half inch drive which will be way too much torque especially if you use a rat**** too unless you used a 1/4 inch handle drive and a 1/2 inch adaptor that would b perfect -------------------- Mike W

RESURECTING OLD THREAD!
Out of curiosity has anyone tried out the gapless spark plugs? Wally world sells them and I need new spark plugs, but the fact that they are not adjustable and just suspicious looking in general and I was curious if anyone had experience with them? -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! Pass.
Denso twin tip plugs seem pretty good over all, cheap, fire well, and last fairly good. -------------------- |
