Murphy's Law took over every step of the way today....

Wind was supposed to be 3-5 mph, but was a windstorm, tore apart my temporary paint booth- while i was spraying.. Had to play musical cars to get my car into my roomates spot in the garage.

Had no choice but to spray in a cramped garage. Couldnt fix what damage was already done.

Only had about 3 and a half coats on when my sprayer took a $h*t

Now im gonna have to call up dyc to see about fixing my sprayer issue.

I guess its fine, as long as you stand 15 feet back and its dark... rolleyes.gif

Will take pics tomorrow. had to go to dinner and get my mind off this day kindasad.gif

Alright so after I slept off the frustration, and took a second look.. not all hope is lost.

Its not that bad except for streaks in the doors and part of the pass side rear quarter panel.. but once i get the sprayer issue addressed I may try to fix the doors and tackle the pearly satin top coat, but I think I'll leave the matte white look for a little bit.

You sir, are a pioneer!

It looks great in the pics, get rid of the overspray on the tyres and you got yourself a beaut! (Im assuming that the plasti on rubber is more adhesive?)

I hope you resolve the bits you aren't happy easily enough and I'm pretty sure you wont be able to stop yourself adding the pearl when the sprayer is sorted smile.gif

Amazing first attempt, I'm now doing mine when our summer hits!

Thanks guys.

Yeah really need to clean up the wheels..

To get rid of overspray is pretty easy-
Light overspray you can rub off with a microfiber towel.
And for the heavier bits and tyres just spray on some Goo Gone, let it sit, a quick rub and the jet setting on the hose and voila! lol

That looks epic! How'd the texture etc come out, I never got mine smooth.

Looks good though!! Also be careful with what car wash, window spray etc you use, might eat it away!

Thanks!

The texture isnt that bad, I think it has to do with the sprayer vs the rattle can. I mean it IS there but not the same rough texture. Also the top sides of the car seem to be a little smoother than and of the vertical surfaces.

As far as washing goes- simple green is what everyone one DYC uses.. let it sit then wash off.
Also Magic eraser does the trick on heavily soiled areas.

I'll have to be cautious with glass cleaner, dont think ammonia and dp would get along lol.

But the headlights are NOT tinted..
It's just the way the sun's hitting them wink.gif

They're clear plastic lenses from Rayme's GB A couple years back.
With a PROJECTOR RETROFIT smile.gif
The shrouds and bezel is a dark charcoal paint.

Visibility at night is great (shakey phone shot)

I guess I can sort of update this..
Cleaned up all the overspray and the car has now been through 2 car washes with no problems thumbsup.gif

Actually seems to be easier to clean then before.. just spray some simple green on the bug splats and heavy dirt, follow it by spraying entire car with the tire cleaner option and a medium pressure rinse and boom like new!

Is that matte white or pearl white paint?

Glad we have the same line of thinking, I did my emblem in black too. Nice paint, the sig captures the improvements you've made in the "face" succesfully.

Haha I swear I started a trend here with the plastidip!

Looks good. Can't wait to see the pearl results. Sucks on the sprayer. Where did it break at? Mine does feel slightly cheap, and when trying to remove the beater it sometimes feels its going to split apart. Been putting veggie oil on the thread so I don't have to twist it so hard. Next step...wrap duct tape around it.
