So I was picking up some groceries tonight and a big pick up truck pulled beside me and kinda gunned it ahead and so I followed and we came to a red light and then we raced, I didnt have time between stopping and putting it in gear to rev at all so it wasnt a very good launch but he pulled ahead, by the time I got in second he was about a length and a half ahead and once I started gaining he was already slowing down since the limit was 50km and we were probably breaking 100km.

I dont really take it too heart since those big trucks have ass loads of torque(didnt get a chance to see what kind, assuming it wa s GM of some sort). It still woulda been nice to win though tongue.gif I think if I had a nice launch I coulda atleast been even but Ill never know now rolleyes.gif

Ya its turbo, we're talking 200lbs of torque vs 300-400lbs of torque in a truck. Wait is pretty meaningless with that big a difference. Also my car is 10 years older then that truck and my engine is more then aged so I can see why I got beat.

trucks own the 0-40mph area

they have high number rear ends for towing and high torque.

if you would have actually launched it would have been different.

ya man if I rev at like 4-5grand the car jets off, it very rarely burns any rubber which is sweet for take offs and my tires. But when I launched it was from idle because I basically just came to a stop and the light turned green.

But ya people dont realize how hard trucks pull, especially from a dead stop, if it was a quarter mile with a good launch I woulda came out ahead.

But ya I have bee ndriving my sisters 100hp peseo lately so it was nice to get out in my mr2 for a change. BUt tomorrow is the last day its insured so Im bummed about that for sure.
