hey guys, i recently bought colins old car from another member on here..Love the car, soon as i got her, got her a nice paint job and had a couple oil leaks fixed. Now, i think im in a little trouble...Im getting no power to the distributor, and the mechanics are tellin me they cant mess with the wiring until they know..

1) if the wiring is stock and
2) what year and model the ecu is

i know the engine came from a early 90s corolla fx gt but dont know the exact year! I've messaged colin but i dont know how active he is on this site anymore so im turning to you guys and hoping you can tell me the best way to go about this. Thanks for any help!

it shouldnt matter, a good mechanic can do wiring tests to find some faults. is there power? is there a signal?

If the motor is a 20V then it didn't come out of a Corolla FX. The 20V was never released here in the US, so the wiring is not stock, and depending on the 20V (Silvertop or Blacktop) it could be anywhere from 1991 to 1998.

91-95 Silvertop
95-98 Blacktop

Do you know what "Colin"'s screen name was on here? Did you search his old topics and posts to see if he states anywhere?

i know it never was in the states that just the car i was told it was in. An early 90's ae101 fx gt from japn. I got in touch with colin who told me he had a similar problem and that he'd bet money it was the ignitor. Apparently my coils getting power but im not getting spark or fuel and my distributor has no power from what im told. The car has the 20v st ecu and the wiring harness but i think the the distributor-cap-rotor wires are stock. Hopefully getting the ecu part number will help me in identifying the year.

yeah sounds like a 1994 toyota corolla fx-gt ae101 4a-ge it's a bubble shape corolla I know the one. Has a 20v silvertop, 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto, diagnosing the fault shouldn't be any different to normal.

just order parts for that car I guess

that model was produced from 1992 to 1995 I think
