It is a very nice sleeper but not my cup of tea, I acknowledge Hondas ability to make great motors but I hate them mainly because of the people ive had experience with who drive them; They think they are the ****.

1. Sleeper (N.)
Often reffering to what appears to be a ordinary looking stock commuter car that is anything but stock under the hood. Pretty much the exact opposite of your every day riced up civic. "My bone stock looking 1967 Volkswagen Beetle with a dual carbed, big bore and race head equiped engine gives quite the ego bashing when a ricer can't hold up to his own challenge at a light." edit: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=79429 <-sleeper This post has been edited by devilsden97: Jun 20, 2011 - 6:25 PM -------------------- Kawi Love |

So a BMW m3 with complete stock body pushing 550 hp to the wheels isn't a sleeper? no its not, because the M3 badge says it all. Not to mention the more aggressive styling ques that BMW gives there M cars. Mak, I see your point. And yes, the AE86 is cool, and yes id love to have it. But i dont think its a sleeper. Can we agree to disagree? I see your point. I'm just saying it's sleeper in the sense that people figure the car to be 300 hp, and it winds up to be 550 hp which is a pretty vast difference. Edit: yeah I dont think the ae's a sleeper either. Just thought I'd share my personal favorite k series swap. Why do people like sleepers so much? What is the huge appeal? A fast car with 0 effort put forth on looks? A car you can take to the big bad street races and beat someone in and they can say "That was like the fastest POS I've ever seen?!?!?! ZOMG!" or "I've never seen a car so fast with no spoiler?!?! How did he do that?!?!" My buddy has a K20 CRX. It's whatever... Like you said, he is about $15-20k deep into a 225HP NA ugly doorstop looking Honda...Yeah, I guess it's a sleeper, but no one will ever tell him how cool it looks. He won't ever picking any chicks up in it. He won't ever do anything besides go fast in a straight line. He WILL beat other Honda kids however CUZ HIS VTEC CRACKS THE HARDEST YOOOOO!!! I'll take a sexy, fast, well handling car any day over that. I couldn't care less about "sleeper" front wheel drive cars... The main sex appeal for sleepers in a car race is because sleepers are the under dog in a race with a trump card up its sleeve. However i'm not a fan of this insight swap for its sleeper aspect instead I like the engineering involved. I like the insight for the aluminum chassis along with great aerodynamics. Honda spent millions to get this car with a low coefficient of drag down to .25. Considering our Celicas has a sleek body yet it still has coefficient of drag .35. That is a big difference. Hell the insight has a better coefficient of drag compared to the Nissan GT-r. What is there not to like when you mash together of the the greatest Naturally aspirated engine in the world with one of the most under rated chassis. |

Lets put a 2jz in a golf cart..that would be a total sleeper..As no one would expect it to be fast.. Also the insight doesnt really look slow, it just looks bad. To someone who didn't know cars they wouldn't know the difference. Now putting a ls3 is a 75 ford grenada, THAT is a sleeper haha.

I call BS on 45mpg + 200hp or that 350+whp 43mpg rsx they built. My civic is runnin a K20A3 with stupid fake IVTEC (not real VTEC, its some stupid system that honda developed to make better fuel economy + a bit of power, rather than power like regular VTEC), and I just have minor bolt ons and im only gettin like 33mpg if that. I worked it out like 5 or 6 diff times to see how my fuel econmy is, and im averaging 32mpg. So 45+mpg on a K series, unless they de-tune the living hell of out that motor, they are not gettin anywhere near that.

An Insight is way lighter than your Civic. It also comes down to gearing and many other variables.
