installation would not be hard if you get the complete system. it would be a direct bolt on if the previous owner didn't cut the lines at stupid places.

if he just pulled the pump and the brackets are there then just install the pump and belt and hook the lines up, bleed the air out, and youre good to go. if he did something funny with the lines then you'll need to maybe make or buy new lines. its not hard to work on, just the lines on the rack are in some tight spots.

QUOTE(Nyczroflz @ Apr 6, 2008 - 12:48 AM) hmm how much would the powersteering system cost and where would i be able to find it? From toyota the pump itself is about 350 IIRC and with installation I was quoted well over 900 about 3months ago. I went with ebay and got lucky and got one for 65 and did my own installation. Took me about 3-4hours most of that time was trying to figure out how to remove the pump and its hoses as it is in a very tight spot. Granted, I have a 3s so it might be different for 5s or STs. gl -------------------- 3sgteing.

how important is it for these threads to be even??? my steering feels a bit funny and the steering wheel gets stuck to the right if I take a sharp right turn at moderate to fast speeds.

aligned what for? I would just need to adjust my left side to match my right. I seem to have more threading on my right tie rod???

alignment is not about matching the threads on both sides, only an alignmentt machine can accurately provide you the right results to make the proper adjustments. there are many factors that can make your car unaligned.

naw cars alignment is fine. Its steers slightly to the left a bit when I hold the steering wheel straight. But its nothing major it would take about 5-6 seconds to make a left lane change.
Then what is the purpose of the threading on the tie rods??? TRDProven?! -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

Toe.
I think what TRD is saying is that alignment is not about how the threads are evenly matched, as opposed to a variety of factors (caster, camber, toe, pivot inclination, etc...) |

Wow....
Anyhow, what is that, a Haynes or Chiltons? If your steering gets stuck, I doubt its a Toe in/out problem. Something might be binding (your rack, for instance). As far as the threads being even with that center point, your pretty much trying to get the toe in to "center value", there can be a slight difference in rack end difference (1.5mm or less). So, like I said before, toe..... |
