Well no offence man but if I was sitting there watching tv or sleeping or anything for that matter and some kid cruises by with a needlessly loud exhaust system Id be giving him looks too. Deal with it, and just keep an eye on that car in the night. Because I have enough respect to not act on my impulse which would be smash the drivers side window and drag the kid out and beat him sensless for wasting his money on something that doesnt make the car faster but makes it slower then it already is. But other people arent as controlled so I dont know what to to tell you man. Theres some kid that sits in his car with his buddy across the street all the time pumping his stereo while they sit there and listen but I let it slide because hes just proud of it but Im sure other people are plotting his death as we speak This post has been edited by Uppitycracker: Dec 13, 2003 - 7:28 PM |

Whenever I hear exhaust, I go towards a window to see what kind of car it is. I could imagine old people getting angry and annoyed though.

I live in an apartment complex and there are more than enough loud exhausts. The ones that are cool about it I don't really mind, but there are some that will sit and rev/peel out all hours of the night.
The Greddy I have isn't too loud, but I still try to keep it quiet at night(staying in certain rpm ranges...). |

I gave up looking out the window, half the damn time its a 89 accord with a tin can exhaust. Some times its a treat like a 300z but those times are few and far in between.

Around my house we got this 35 year old guy who has two Eclipses that are the exact same color and have the exact same mods(Stupid tail lights and Giant Exaust Canister), I think he gets drunk or just is an a$$hole and he Drives up and down the street at 2 in the morning every other day.

One of old friends had a 92 Prelude...and his two best friends had 00 Cougar and 95 civic...all with exhuasts., They'd rip through the neighborhood at 2 or 3 am after coming from downtown. Lots of neighbors complained. Mine only complained when my supra exhuast was off for a week in the summer. lol. Wow loud...
and yeah, I look everytime I hear loud exhuast...and if I just hear it ahead of me....I'll try and pass peopel to see what it is. It's like an obsessive compulsive disorder...i gotta see what car it is or it bugs me. -------------------- 95 Toyota Celica GT

WHY THE HELL DO YOU HAVE 3 INCH PIPING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
jesus christ, i have a turbo on my car and i only have 2.5 inch piping with a stock cat, your high flow cat probably adds to the noise polution. hows the loss of low end power feel? i would be extremely pissed if you drove up my street on your way home every day. i would walk up to you and ask you silence your exhaust, and if you didnt do anything to quiet it, i would file a complaint. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

i always keep my car under 3500 RPMs in the neighborhood, nothing worse than being woken up by some kid driving home. my friends on the other hand always rev it up when they get a certain distance from my house, so i hear them about 3 minutes before they pull down the street. i just roll my eyes like, thanks for the warning your almost here lol

When I here exhausts I can pretty much tell what kind of car its coming from, even down to integra or civic, eclipse or 300zx... So if its a honda, I dont usually look out the window, anything else I do.
And, My apartment is right next to a street and it pisses me off when people with an exhaust coming racing down the street in the middle of the night. |

yah i kno 3" is a lot for an st, but it really kicks @ss in the top end. before i couldnt keep up with my cousin who has a 01 v6 accord. now though im able to keep up with him through 2nd gear, after that i get my ass handed to me. my low end sucks a lot though. i have to actually press the gas whenever i back up from parking spots because otherwise i wouldnt be getting anywhere. but for all the power i think its worth it. BTW, whenever i drive down the street i try really hard to keep the revs down. i usually go about 15 or 20 down my street. that usually keep down the muffler to a purr. even if i do that though my neighbors still give me glares. nobodys complained though, and i dont think anyone will. im pretty much known as the good kid on the block. everyone here has known me since i was little. o well |

When Im driving I always shift around 2.5rpms, saves gas and, wear and tear. I honestly dont see how 3" piping gets you more power top end or otherwise? With the st engine as is I dont think the stock exhaust would be restrictive period. I may be wrong but I know even people with engines pumping out 200hp only need 2.5".

wow, 2500rpms?? dont you bog like mad?? my car isnt happy anything less than 3k, must be the clutch/flywheel combo...
3 inch piping you probably are actually loosing power all over the powerband on a stock 1.8L -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... Ten Speed, of God's Blood & Burial |
