Hey everyone,
I'm at a loss on what to do... so I bought a 3" downpipe from berk last year for my 3S-GTE swap. well there was a dirty wield on it and it cracked pretty badly. Le Pix: ![]() ![]() ![]() here is my problem... I contacted Berk about this in may before I went to Japan for two months, and told them I don't have a second car to drive while I send them the downpipe back to get replated. and at first it sounded like they were willing to send me a new one and I'd send back the old one when I had it installed. it is now turning into the only option I have is to send mine back to be fixed. but I can't do that because then I'd be out of a car for a week or more. and its not as simple as hooking up the old cast iron downpipe because my custom exhaust wouldn't match up to it. so I am generally at a loss on what to do... can anyone give me any advice? Man that's quite the dilema, there's not really much you can do.
You could always buy another one, have yours fixed and try and sell one of the two i guess? Or depending on what that would cost rent a car for the time being? whatever would be cheaper. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

I'm not familiar with the downpipe or how long it takes to remove or install, but is it possible to take it out and get a ride to a shop to weld up the cracks, then reinstall it?

Kev, your not gonna have much choice but to take it off and either pay to have it fixed and ask hero to reimburse you, or send it back to them.
I'd call and try and speak with brian, he always took care of me.. (i ran one of his first run of downpipes on the 5sfte) I'm surprised they didn't just send out a replacement right away, he did it for me back in the day. Were you running the downsize support bracket? -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Were you running the downsize support bracket? thanks Manny, yeah I understand, It just started out sounding like they were willing to do the replacement then it turned into a "please send it in" attitude. I have been speaking to Bryan but I think they might have become a little worried, and so they are just covering themselves which is understandable. I'm a little frustrated, sure, but I'm not mad. and I'm sorry, I don't know what the support bracket is so I'll say no. Kevin |

It's the bracket that goes from. The bottom of the downpipe to the block. It should have come with the downpipe, they will crack without it.
