Ok so as most of you know, I just moved to Australia from the states. When I was leaving I was selling a lot of my stuff for some extra cash. I sold my iPhone 3GS on eBay. Well most things I ship I drop off at a shipping center they package it jup for me and tell me how much owe them. Everything always goes fedex or priority mail. However, in the haste of last minute packing (shipped the phone the day before I left) I didn't catch it when the idiot behind the counter sent the phone parcel post. The guy put a claim on my account and I shipped it out July 6.

I believe the guy is going to just try to keep the phone and the money. Any suggestions? As you know, parcel post does not carry insurance or a tracking number. Fail

Is there some way of finding out where the phone is being used? Through the phone network perhaps? Might be able to prove he's using it?

For sure, I mean technically it was. You got receipts for the phone?

On electronics (especially phones) I would keep track of the IMEI/ICCID/MEID numbers, so that if this ever happened you can call and find out if it is registered/in-use.

It's sad to see that this is such a large loophole in the system that if you do slip up and don't get tracking someone WILL try to rip you off.

Well poo. I'm going to have my mom call AT&T or apple and see if they can tell anything? Or just lock it? That really sucks. $270 right down the drain

Hope you got the money out of Paypal first.

He can file a claim and win, but if there isn't money in the account his win will be like a win at the special olympics...

my account currently reads -$238.xx
So, almost all out of it is out. But my bank account is linked up to it. Should I remove that and just take a loss on that $30 or so? (used the rest to buy the girl something nice before I moved overseas so she didn't kill me)

That's what I would do. Break the account links and call it a day.

I just tried. You cant remove an account when you have a negative balance in your paypal account. Fail. Looks like this might become a $270 lesson for me frown.gif

call your bank, tell them you want to close any withdrawls from paypal. Explain to them that someone stole an item then paypal judged against you. Call ATT and have the phone locked as stolen.
