Hey guy's plenty to "Bump". Lets start as the topic tile says Fresh and New on the topic of 3s-gte and E153 tranny swap....

Yea I know the trend is to say, " go read the forums" but lets be honest all of them are old and outdated info. (2002-2008) Its now 2011 need new posting for those of us that have just gotten into the 6g games. Also tho, it seems as if there is allot of conflicting forums out there. Has anyone actually (the old school guys), tried to erase your minds and look at it from a newbie prospective..........? Let me tell you that stuff gets really confusing everyone’s opinion on every thing but never a definitive answer, yet even more confusing.

So I said that to say this Lets start fresh and new for the newbies like myself and see if we can actually educate people instead of sending them off to old blogs because you’re either lazy too answer or just really selfish with your knowledge. Come on guys we suppose to brothers in this little union club, which I think is pretty awesome for a dying generation of automobiles. And this applies to all subjects’ not just 3sgte e153 swaps....................................

Agree or Disagree

I'm sorry but I didn't realize that info becomes less true and valuable the older it gets. The fact is all the parts and cars that this site is dedicated to are over 10 years old, there are no new parts being added and invented for us. The 3sgte/e153 swap has been done countless times, and has been WELL documented, it wont change, things may be added for ease or practicality, but the current method is the proper one.

I guess i just don't understand what you want. I'm thinking you want all the old time guys to just spill all their knowledge out for you because "it's 2011"? BS, go search like everyone else, this forums search setup is VERY easy to use.

No one is withholding information. Its just that it gets a little old typing the same thing over and over again every time someone new sings up on the forums and decides they want to day dream about a swap. All of the swap info is well documented and more detailed than any single post reply can give you.

There is really not much to even tell.
If you want a 3sgte, buy a 3rd gen from an st205, bolt it in, and rewire the fuel pump circuit to make the car run.
If you want an e153, buy one from an mr2, solara, etc.., bolt it in and make hybrid axles with a spacer for it because that trans was never meant to be used in our car. Oh and youll need st205 shifter cables and rear motor mount for it.

Now how many times do we all have to type this out?

I guess i kinda see it from both sides.. i mean I've lurked long enough to know if i have a question about something such as a swap i could easily find it within the stickies and extended links.

The only part i agree with is the "outdated" issue- meaning with the links I've stumbled across a few links that no longer work (dead end). HOWEVER its easy to find a substitute link or just search your way to an answer. I'm not saying I myself can answer any questions in a swap related thread, but the info is there..

You (you in the general sense, not OP) don't feel like looking for info and want people to bring you the answers, do you expext the same as the actual swap process? searching and learning (to me) is just another step..

Just my .02 and I voted to agree tongue.gif

Can we atleast agree into cleanin up those old posts to do.away with the confussions and missundersstandings i realh shouldnt be reading a post about axle nut size and have conflicting sizes from 29mm to 32mm and a funny guy sayin just buy all 4 sizes

Is that really necessary? If u disagree on a cleanup then ur really not tryn to help because u dnt care if the rest of the community is confused

I'm not going to knock your effort because I like the idea, after all a forum is meant to provide ongoing discussion. Why not create a thread in the Engine subforum where people can feel free to post random discoveries concerning swaps? Maybe it can provide for a broad resource of random knowledge.

I disagree...

I don't understand what is so difficult when it comes to finding info.

I can be considered one of the newer members, only at it 2 years now, little over.

Certainly have I asked the obvious questions that were easiely searchable and recieved the prompt "use the search button" comment from someone with a chip on their shoulder trying to be a e-thug.

Regardless though, I corrected that issue, found the information I needed and moved forward. If you arn't willing to make a mistake and learn from it, you more then likely should get out of the game.

The community provides the information - Useful, or not - Bitch at them, not the forum providers. Be happy they front the bill for this site. Bet money if this site went down, a good majority of the people with issues on this matter wouldn't think twice of paying the bill.

Its always easy to come up with a idea, but as usual the big picture is always ignored, then the feeling of entitlment comes into play.

Disagree. The info is there. I'm no mechanic but I've now completed an engine swap without ever leaving this site. Never even went to Google. I never posted once in any other swap thread to ask questions. I browsed the other threads, got the answers I needed, and posted in my own thread when problems came up and rather than sitting around and waiting for this community to figure out why a car they've never seen won't run, I searched more threads and found relevant information. And when I couldn't find the information I needed, I can name a list of people who were more than happy to take my phone calls and help me out. Like Andrew said, these cars aren't new. Don't assume that just because you have a question, you must be the first person in the world who has ever had that specific question. Any question you can come up with has been asked on 6gc and answered at least a dozen times. It's just a matter of taking the initiative to look for it.

you guys want fresh and new content, CREATE IT!
the threads that are here, were started by members just like you, who researched, did theyre homework, and documented the process.
its up to you guys (the newer members) to take that information, disect it, revamp it, refresh it, and make it new again.
if your too lazy to do it yourself, or want your hand held to do so, dont complain about it.
