Wasn't sure where exactly to put this thread so it's going here. tongue.gif

My rear washer jet isn't working I've traced it back to the engine bay but I don't know how to get to the washer bottle.

I know it's a noob question but it is my first car I've had to work on. biggrin.gif

I do know where the bottle is but do I have to get at it from below?

the rear portion of the pump is the first to go...

The pump is easier to access from the passenger wheel well cover.

Jack the front end up, locate the screws to move the front part of the wheel well cover down, take the tire off, move it down, and have someone test run the pump with you next to it to see if it's moving anything through the hose. If nothing is moving, the part costs like $40 at a dealer. MAKE SURE IT'S FOR THE LIFTBACK WITH REAR SPRAYER! I had to return two pumps because they didn't listen when I told them, "ST204 GT-S liftback" and ended up getting the run around. Luckily they like my boss and they helped me out, but still... it was a pain in the ass.... especially because the whole pump shut down in the winter time.... right when you need it the most.

thanks guys is it a separate pump for the rear? The front works fine and i can hear a pump whirring when i hit the switch just no water. Its probably just a blockage.

The last guy hadn't looked after her that well frown.gif

Are the front nozzles are working? if so it is likely that your rear are just clogged with dirt. just use safety pins to unclogged it, if that doesn't work, could be the water hose is clogged, bent or disconnected somewhere.

also see if the switch are working properly.

or the wiring for the rear one is bad, if the pump doesn't work when you try the rear, it's most likely the wiring.

The jet itself isnt blocked i've traced the lines back to the engine bay and there is no water in the lines

The pump works fine and so does the switch I can hear the pump working when I flick the switch

Like I said the last guy who owned her didnt look after her very well so its probably just clogged water lines

You may have to pump it a few times. There is a lot of distance for the fluid to cover and I know it takes a while to reach the rear of mine.

say does anyone know how it switches between front and rear? is there a solenoid valve or something, or is there 2 outputs and 3 wires on the washer motor?

Here's the answer to your question. like they've all said, access the pump from the fender well. Remove the inner fender ( take the tire off its easier that way.) if you want wiring diagrams go here http://bgbonline.celicatech.com/94_6gmanual/94_6gmanual.htm - you have to be a member to get there but it's worth it especially because its free to sign up for that forum. Just use the 94 manual. It's likely your pump isn't bad, I went through this about a month ago. There isn't an aftermarket pump carried in napa, autozone, adavanced that has a twin spray that fits our car that doesn't spray front and back at the same time, that and it costs 30$. waste of money. What I'm willing to bet is that because you didnt know how to get to the washer bottle, you didn't bother taking off that inner fender. What you'll find there is a "connection" for that hose. At least on mine anyway, the hose was disconnected right there in that fender well. Now If by chance you can't hear the pump running at all, sorry about your luck, maybe its the switch. Only way to know for sure is to use the bgb info on the washer fluid pump, know which one is ground, and then touch the other two to 12v battery juice. if they both spin, check ohmage with a multimeter when you click the switch over. The BGB has all the wiring info you need. Listen for the pump, see if you can get fluid to flow with hoses disconnected and do some general trouble shooting like i'm sure you can do. Good luck.
