Since I'm redoing my tail lights to be LED, I thought I would make the lens clear red too. Basically I decided to oven-heat and disassemble my tail light for easy access to the lens. While I had it apart I decided to take a dremel to the lens with an 80 grit polish wheel and smooth out the diffuser lens. I'm still working on it, I took some 320, 1000, and 2000 grit denominations of sandpaper and polished the spot I made smooth, then I took rubbing compound/polish and rubbed it some more to make it clear. The one spot that I did it for the purpose of the video looks great, I just have to do the rest of it. I thought I would share it with you guys. Plus I'm taking out the turn signal/back up diffuser lens completely so my turn signal LED board will shine through a clear lens too.
I mention the diffuser lens polishing at around 7 minutes into the video. tail lights video on you tube This post has been edited by match220: Sep 8, 2011 - 6:14 AM -------------------- -Jay
