If anyone is wondering on how the lights perform here are three before and after pics. The last pic with them installed I had slightly turn the camera to the right a little. Here you all go.
Note: These are the regular Silverstar. Only the headlights were change. The fog lights are on and still using the regular H3 bulbs. Will change them at a later date. ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() 1990 Celica Turbo All-Trac, 1977 Celica GT Liftback, 1999 Celica GT Convertible, 2004 Lexus IS300 5-Speed |

The silverstar are pretty good, HID would be nice but not needed. I thought I'll just post some pics if anyone was wondering on going with the silverstar. I know that there is the silverstar ultras but they don't have ultras in the H3 55w bulbs.

The Silverstars are pretty good... until they blow out. Honestly, I've never liked them at all. I've always been more impressed with standard bulbs than Silverstars.

I like the SS but they blow too quickly for me. Burn twice as bright last half as long, as the saying goes. So I just stick with the regular ones.

I've read that they don't last that long but my ST185 has it's set on headlights and fog lights since 2007.

Sylvania Silverstars are ultra-high efficiency bulbs, which produce 50% more light than a standard bulb but have an expected life of 150 hours versus 800 hours.
They are also tinted, which means only about 10% more light than a standard bulb actually makes it onto the road. An Osram Silverstar, like a Philips VisionPlus, are clear glass so you get all the additional light. To improve light output, and get equal or better life out of your bulb, look to high efficiency bulbs. These produce about 30% more light than a standard bulb, but often last longer. Sylvania XL, Osram Super, and Philips Premium are all in this category. Essentially, they're updated versions of the same bulb, incorporating advances in design in the last couple of decades. |
