Well my girl gave me the SAFCII(early gift) anyway, I keep looking at the cigarette lighter area for the install but that takes some REAL custom work considering theres a 1/4 inch gap or so. The dash area is screaming TAKE ME!! So im just gauging the ares everyone put theres. I want to start the install but this is my only bumb.
BTW, if someone has any useful info on the wirring for a 5sfe(auto) it would be appreciated.(yes..I searched bfore posting ) |

I mounted mine in the glove box. Once you get it tuned you dont need to play with it anymore. Its pretty bad here to have it showing to everyone on the street. Your just asking for your car to be broken into. Also I hear that its illegal to have where I live.. or any aftermarket computer so its hidden in the glove box so I wont get defected.

Mine is right below the radio. It just barely fits, but that was enough. I'll try to take pics sometime.

When doing the wirring of the T5-c diagram...how are they looking at the connectors? What I mean is the 26p connector the closest to you then the 16p and the 22p is nearest to the firewall? or is this vice versa??

Go to www.evilspeed.com and click on tech. I have a writeup on the SAFC install. When it calls out a pin i.e. E7-14 you're looking at the plug from the back, where the wires go in.

Well I did it all according to www.toyotacelicaonline.com, I got nothing but a fat "check engine". I didnt even get any power. I did all this damn work, my neck hurts and my arm is cramped. I dont know what I did wrong. Anyone who has installed on a GT please....some input would be gratefully appreciated.
If you have done it correctly can you post a AIM s/n? Thank you This post has been edited by 5sfeTurbo: Dec 18, 2003 - 2:32 PM |

If you're getting a CEL its likely because the ECU isn't getting a sensor signal that it should be.
Go to sensor check in SAFC and see if everything is working. Make sure the throttle and pressure are there, those are the most important two. Double check that the wire going from the SAFC to the ecu for manifold pressure is hooked up correctly. Make sure all your connections are good. I really recommend that you solder everything. Make sure there are no possible shorts. Everything should be taped up well, there shouldn't be any exposed wires. Make sure your maps are all set to zero to start with. Make sure you have the right pressure sensor selected. I believe most toyotas are either 01 01 or 03 03. I've used both and they seem to work fine. Is the throttle calibrated? It should read 0% when you're off the gas and 100% at full throttle. If it doesn't go back and recalibrate it. Don't get discouraged man. Its a complex thing and it won't always work perfect the first time. Also, don't expect it to make any power until its tuned correctly on a dyno. Until then, its just a pretty gage. |
