I saw this one celica for sale and its claiming to have a "frozen" AC compressor.

due to the 'freezing' the alternator belt keeps breaking off, she says if i replace the ac compressor and belt, i can drive it back home.
but i dont want to :
a. buy a car and find out that there was something else wrong
b. buy a AC compressor just to test it.

i was thinking of connecting the camshaft pulley directly to the alternator so the battery charges and i can actually test drive it
can i do this WITHOUT taking the compressor out?
how what 'size' belt should i get to make this work

the car starts on jump start but obviously i cant test drive it.
im pretty sure people who remove ac compressor to save weight do it this way so i know its possible. just need size.

is a 5s auto if ur wondeing

put a good battery in the car, preferably jump start it as well. you have a short (red top: 55min) time to drive to car without any accessories on (fan, lights, radio, etc)

better yet, take a friend, and swap batteries between the two cars when the voltage drops 1v below what it was when you first started it.

so you always have power & not too much stress on other guys alt.

or you can take a string, wrap around where the belt would be with just the alt, and take that to an auto store place to buy proper size belt. theyre 5 rib iirc.

dont have extra batt. at the moment so thats out of the question. might go with option 3 or 2.

any idea how long the belt needs to be?

thanks

When you mean the belt breaks off you mean the belt slips off the pully or it actually breaks/snaps apart ?? Their are places that sell 5sfe belts w/o AC I can't remember which store I think it's autozone call your local auto stores to find out.
