hey guys.

i need to change pretty much everything in the front end of my car because its all old and making noise so this is what im looking for so if you have any ideas where i can buy these items without braking my wallet it would be appreciated =)
i need :

Brake pads for a 1995 celica ST
Brake calipers right and left
Axle shaft and joint assembly right and left without ABS
. i went to a mechanic just now and he gave me an estimate on how much everything is going to cost with labor and new parts and it was going to be $ 652.82 USD
thing is i am really not sure if thats a good price for all this work or not. help me out
my passanger side wheel is making this squeak noise that is driving me insane you have no idea and when i hit the brakes it starts to make a different noise and it sounds like there having a party down there.
the mechanic said the rotors and brake pads i just bought (2 weeks ago) suck and that i shouldnt have bought them because thats whats making the noise but according to a pal of mine from the autoparts that i bought it from he said these were the best parts he had for my car. so now i have no idea what to do i just want to fix everything and get back on the road noiseless. so please help me out guys. what should i do?

All that is fairly simple to change yourself, with limited tools and patience.

But for that price, if he is doing everything listed, fluids included...good price. Mainly because of the axles...the rest is cake.

Otherwise..you can get all of that at a local autoparts store. Roughly 100 per axle, 30-50 for pads, no Idea on calipers.

yeah thats the thing. i already bought brand new brake pads and rotors and changed them myself but the mechnic said that the brake pads i bought screwed up the rotors and that i should change them but i bought them and changed them 2 or 3 weeks ago. that stuff is easy to do the axles is what i want him to do but i want to buy the other stuff also to get everythng out of the way but its so annoying because i already bought new pads and rotors... so i dunno what to really tell the guy. i told him they are new but he said well the new ones u got suck but according to my friend at advance autoparts they are the best parts that they had for my car in the store so who do i believe.

head to your nearest autozone or oreilly with your bad axle(s) and caliper(s). i think i bought my driver's side axle from oreilly for $60 with core exchange. calipers are around $50 with core exchange. brake pads should be no more than $20 as i buy them so many times lol unless you're looking to replace em old ones with some super nice pads. and, IMO, $600 is a bit much. if you were close, i'd replace em free! GOOD LUCK!

Axles are cheap, like 50-80 each, get em from an autopart store. Pads are also cheap, monroe and wagnar is running a rebate on them. caliper is the expensive part... i think i got mine for around 100each or something.

look on ebay or rockauto.com for parts.

or....get on autozone's website and look up caliper. it's $45 + core. it was a 30 second search and i've got your answer.

You're not necessarily presenting a problem here - you say you were given the "best" brake pads, and that they make noise. So? Higher-performance brake pads can be noisy, so if you were in fact given the "best" ones, it's not surprising. If anything, your issue lies in installation error or improper break-in procedure.
