im thinking of getting a 200 dollar (+240 for shipping) hood that has a lot of dents.
A guy who does cheap body work for me and says he can fix it and paint it for 100 but he's not too sure about working with aluminum.
does anyone know if its really difficult to repair a badly dented GT4 hood?

It really depends if ur gon a do that look into the cost plus shipping for this plus the cost of fixing its posibly cheaper to just buy the more expensive one. With out the damage minor damage is ok as far as dings an dents an stuff like that but big creases i would think twice about. U might end up wasting your money or spending more that you have to.

The black one on EBay? Stay away. It's too far gone. There are several more from the same seller that are in much better shape for only a little bit more. You're going to have to pay your body guy to repair shipping damage and repaint anyway but you'll save a lot more if he doesn't have to do as much work. The framework has to be bent on that hood.

I was thinking about buying that one too until I saw the side angle. I've seen hoods with less damage that body shops refuse to repair, even as personal favors rather that just for insurance checks. If you could fix it yourself, I would definitely say buy it but since you have to pay somebody to fix it, I would hate to see buy it, get it here, and then your body guy won't touch it.

guys stay away from dented aluminum hoods unless you are a pro. If a dent cannot be repaired with bondo then its not worth it. Aluminum stretches way more than metal to the point of fatigue, and sometimes repairing those dents makes the aluminum crack. it requires special tools and what not. its not a 100 dollar job...

Man, I would gladly pay extra for a hood w/out all those dents. No matter how good your repair guy is, that hood will never be perfectly smooth. If the hood was like $50 shipped, I might try to get it and fix it, but otherwise, I wouldn't touch that hood man. Just my opinion.
