Hey guys, im new to this forum and this is my first post so forgive me if this may be a repeated question but this forum has a flood search limit thing that is really retarded.

ANYWAYS to my question.

I bought an 94 celica ST with 7A-FE off a buddy who did not tell me the crappy condition the car was in. as in the Radiator completely junked up and running with no thermostat. Sure enough the headgasket blew and I had to replace that twice.

Now the car is running fine but the oil light flickers on and off on a cold start up and stays on with it sometimes turning off. This NEVER happend since i bought the car, ran the car, blew the gasket, replaced it, blew it again due to a non resurfaced head. and finally once everything is working nice and dandy this light pops up.

Ive researched and tried to find an explanation whether it being too much oil, (i put a whole 5 qts into the engine), I loose connection, a faulty oil sender.

keep in mind that everything runs fine on the car with a little bog down when i come to a stop but nothing crazy like rod knock.

What could this possibly be? and if it is the oil pressure sender, Where exactly is that located.

Another question I have is I have a connection under the passenger side fuse/relay box that isnt connected to anything. It is a black connection that just hangs straight down and i dont know anywhere near the box that is missing a connection. if anyone can direct me to an online repair manual or knows where it is Id appreciate it.

so in short,

Oil light on and off, Why and how can i fix it?
Relay Box connections, Where do they go?

First off welcome to 6gc.net! Secondly how many miles are on this engine? What brand, type(synthetic or normal), and weight of oil are you running? Are you leaking or burning any oil? The oil pressure sender is right under the alternator, to the top left of the oil filter on the 7afe. The problem with BHGs is that coolant, or crap in the coolant in your case, may have gotten into the oil behind filter and gotten into the oil pump and caused who knows what. To be sure i would get an oil pressure gauge and hook it up on the stock oil pres sender location and see what pressure your reading.

the wire is either bad or sometime it is half severed and ons and offs everytime it gets contact, had that problem before, redid the connector and disappeared.

Mine started flickering a while back and then stayed on. I went and got a used one at a junk yard, tested it to ensure it was good, and then replaced mine. The old one had a hairline crack in it after I inspected it which I assume was causing it to default.

I wasn't too worried about the whole thing though because I also already had a mech. gauge which was reading perfectly.

Thanks for the response guys.

The engine oil I have is regular 10W-30 that I threw in because I had to drain the Mobil1 after the HG blew a second time. I plan on replacing it with mobil1 again after a couple K break in miles. The engine has 178K miles. It runs pretty solid now.

The light flickers whenever im at a stop and i get on the gas. It fades away and comes back as i let off the throttle.
Imma try replacing the sensor and wire to see if that indeed is what is making this light pop up.

I think running an after market oil pressure gauge would be more of a smart idea to do.
