Well on my quest for a 10 second pass the engine finally gave out on me. I had a good launch, 1.7 60' and I was doing 100 MPH in 7 seconds in the 1/8th then POOF!!! something let go. I coasted through the traps at 11.3 @ 127 MPH. After getting her home and pulling the plugs, # 5 and 6 were both covered in oil. I busted 2 pistons frown.gif well here is my excuse to build it up! I was pushing 30 psi and squeezing a 75 shot of juice.

I will document the rebuild like all my other builds and post here so stay tuned for lots of pics!

QUOTE (Smaay @ Oct 16, 2011 - 8:25 PM) *
well i popped 2 pistons at the track today so im going to rebuild. already settled on eagle rods. now im looking into pistons. who carries .020 wiseco pistons? or what are the best "budget" pistons to get?

next question. i see MVP and other vendors carry complete bearing sets, well im not getting over or under sized but how will i know exactly what size to get. i haven't torn into a 2JZ yet but on 3S-GTE or 5S-FE or 2ZZ and 1ZZ there is a number on the crank and a number on the block to tell you what size bearing to get. i guess im a little confused on how this works out on a 2JZ.

i will be upgrading to a 272 intake and 264 exhaust cam. do i really need new springs or can i just get away with upgrading to the 1ZZ-FE buckets?

As stated before, budget and best never fit together haha. What kinda power goals are you going for? If your 100% sure your crank has never been machined than just get a STD set of bearings, but if not then just get the ol micrometer out and check! Also ive never heard anything but good things about real OEM toyota standard bearings. When you say "busted" you mean chipped or cracked or what?

Why not do new springs while you are in there? I mean compared to eagle rods and .20 over pistons they wont be to expensive.
