hey, thanks for this sight!
having a problem. sometimes when car is warm it will stall at idle. at a light, or some such. usually not in gear. if i let it sit a bit, will start back up, but won't start right away. no codes. think maybe (i've read it's a possibility) it's the coolant temp sensor. where is the thing? (also note, my temp gauge has been occasionally flatlining when the car is warm) also having problems with idle control valve, but that's another story (i think). that part seems very hard to find for this motor in the states. pita. thanks! I first of all can't see anything on that link. Secondly it sounds like the iacv to me. This is based off of previous iacv on s different motor and car. Although mine failed catastrophically and it wouldn't let the car run. A few times it would let the car idle, but only when it was cold. If the car is stalling at idle though it could be the cts (coolant temp sensor). If the cts is bad the worst that will happen is that the ecu will change the air fuel ratio to rich.as if it was a cold motor. But if the car is already having iacv problems, that change of AF ratio might be enough to stall it out if it was idling low. The cts should be on the coolant filler neck

the one with the light on it appears to be on your transmission, so no. Just below that red bit of tape or wire connector, is the water temp sensor
what is your idle like? high, low, fluctuates, normal? Have a check in the 3S-GE repair manual to diagnose the problem (found in the above sticky) scroll down to trouble shooting and find your problem. start with 1 as this is usually the most likely cause of the problem and work your way up to 10* (if you get lost in the manual I can bring up the info here) -------------------- |

idle fluctuates when cold. steady when warm but sometimes at 900, others it will stay at 1800.
