hey all...for all of you that have done the hood latch mod to your stock hood latch for the GT-4 front end, or are planning to, here's a pic of an actual LHD GT-4 Hood Latch.
notice that its LHD and not the normal JDM RHD. this routes the cable the correct way for us, no muss no fuss. hehe
the cost is right about $100, which is expensive, BUT if your like me, (no friends with welding equip., and not the greatest fabricator..lol) its well worth it.
with my luck, i'd try to extend my latch, it would break and i'd crash...not what i have in mind!! wink.gif
anyway, on to the pic!!

I have heare that some poeple are gettin away with just using the stock latch confused.gif is there any truth to this..

I tried with mine and it would lock down just fine but had to use channel locks to get it open agian but my cable isnt hooked up right now so it might of released if it was hooked up...

100 bucks is kinda expensive for a hood latch but mikes work is top notch so I can kind of justify 100$ for it.

on the gt4 latch the only prob is that the cable exits out of the opisite direction or does it have probs mounting?

the problem with the stock latch is that the catch is too short. so, when you pop your hood, the catch stops it right away and there is not enough room for you to put your hand in there and pop it up.

there are a few ways around this....

at 1st i attached a pipe to the hood realease that extends down to the lower grills. this way all i had to do is pop the hood and push up on the bar. it worked well for a few months. later i found a friend who could weld and i had him extend the catch on a stock latch (bought an extra one to work on for 10$). now the hood pops open the way that it should.

the only reason that someone had their hood fly up on them is because he poped his hood on a stock latch and forgot that the hood was poped. so when he was driving, all that was holding the hood down was the catch. when that slipped off, the hood flew up.

The good thing is that there are no scratches on it. Just the dents. So I'm hoping that my shop can pop it out. I have to take it back to get some other work done to it anyway.
