Am I the only one who absolutely can NOT stand Competition Clutches? I've put them in MOREFASTs ST215 Celica, burnt up, EasternPiro's Celica, and my current customer's 2JZ/SC300. The feel is horrible, the engagement is less than desireable for even a straight track car. I've also had a few other of my customer's who are members on here call or email me saying their Comp Clutches burnt up as well. Can't say I'm impressed with their quality and reliability. Hope this one works out for you Manny! Good luck with the rest of the swap! Pics please!!! :-) mine has been ok so far..::knocks on wood:: but i do agree, pedal feel is very heavy, engagement is ok at best. its holding just fine so far, and held 320ftlbs with the 5sfte, but i definetly will not buy another. my next clutch without question is gonna be the clutchmasters unsprung 6 puck. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

According to Jim, the motor will arrive next week some time, so for now, here are a few pics of the stuff that has arrived so far: Spoke with Jim today, mine is meant to arrive when your does. If he was speaking of this same delivery. Week or so, flooding was a delay. |

That's the clutch I have for my GEN2 swap, haven't had the chance to drive it with that clutch yet, I keep changing plans for the engine, so it's still on a stand :-) Tweak swears by Comp Clutches...I tell him he needs to drive more performance oriented cars with better clutches -------------------- www.tweakdperformance.com

Yea, the clutchmasters is a wayyy better setup, imo. But you know what they say, opinions are like A-holes. Everyone has one, and they usually stink..lol

^^ not the only one loosing the motivation. I still love my car, but lately im just more active someplace else. yup. finding motivation to post here, hell, even to work on celicas has been next to nill lately. gotta force myself to get out to the garage and work. and at that point, its work, and not fun. kinda blows actually, cause it used to be alot of fun. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

a couple pics.
old 2nd gen setup, out. new rear main seal installed: the 3rd gen, tranny installed and just about ready to drop in: it goes in later today. here is somthing i noticed when i pulled the axles, his passanger axle is thicker than a normal s54 axle, i havent had a chance to ask eli about it, but ill try and get more details. the drivers side is normal. his passanger axle is the bottom one, the top one is a old one i had in the garage. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

I'ts an aftermarket axle. I have them in my car. They are actually brand new axles made by a company (i think its Cardone) that sell for the same price as rebuilds. I have them in my car and they are really nice. This post has been edited by lagos: Feb 6, 2012 - 12:20 AM -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

That's a shame to hear that you don't enjoy doing this anymore, Manny. I understand though, it's more fun to work on your own cars than someone else's. Jenn's car is finished and yours is a DD, so that leaves you with swapping other member's cars. Eli has left his car with the right guy, and I hope this won't be the last JDM Guy Garage swap. Do you still enjoy doing body work?
Eli, I'd love to know how you think the 3rd gen 3S compares to the 2nd gen. Do you have any plans for the car after the swap? -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. No specific plans for the 3rd gen yet, Dan. Its just going to be a daily driver as before. The only change is going to be that i will store it during the winter months as i have an suv for the winters now. I have been looking at Mines ECUs but they are kinda pricey. Will wait till i see something decent. Also looking at some 17X8s wheels as well. I will definitely do a first drive impression as compared to the 2nd gen. I have always wondered about the difference. -------------------- 3sgteing.
