Hey this has probably been discussed before but i havnt had any luck finding it, is it worth changing the S54 tranny on my Celica GT to the Celica ST tranny C52?
Also can this even be done (im assuming it can) Ratios are: C52 - 3.166, 1.904, 1.310, 0.969, 0.815 S54 - 3.285, 1.960, 1.322, 1.028, 0.820 Not alot of difference but was wondering, if it is possible to swap these, whether the accel difference would be noticeable? Celica is GT basically standard just alloys, exhaust and short ram. Remap Ecu at some point soon, is chipping the Ecu the same thing? Cheers guys, Dan |

I'm sure it can be done, but it doesn't bolt up. Is it worth it to go through that much work to get rid of a tried, tested, and true trans for one that might only be a marginal upgrade if at all?

c52 final gear has a 3.722 meant for longer gears and found on supercharged aw11 mr2
s54 final gear is 4.176 better acceleration (more torque) found on 94-99 Celica GT. and no you can't change the transmission from your s54 to a c52 transmission, it has different bell housing. The c52 won't bolt up to your 2.2 litre 5sfe/2.0 litre 3sge engine. No problem. It was a good question. Worth asking for sure.

i'm sure the 4age c52 came with a final drive of 4.312 or somthing like that. axles prob wouldnt be a problem, since the newer ZZ engines with the C series gearboxs can use the S series axles and the older C52's can use axles from the 7A. it probabally will end up costing to much to match everything up.
