Hey im having a small problem with my 35w low beam hid. Only left side dim (blink) a little when im driving i changed the ballast and buld. They are brand new and still doing the same thing. And is not because of the sound system because i have a capacitor and it does it with the music off. Problem is only with the left side right side is perfect. Idk its wierd.. haha what could it be???

Did you try swapping the bulb and ballast sides individually? Just to rule both out 100%.

install a capacitor and if you still have issue? add the resistor in there. That's what I did with mine. Bought the parts in Radio Shack and solder it on.

capacitor in the hids? where exactly does the capacitor will go? between the switch and lights?

hids "strobe" when they dont get enough volts. chack the ground in the inner fender frame on that side

HID troubleshooting is pretty simple swap parts around and if it doesn't work, then try getting a dedicated true ground to test because if youve already tried swapping or new and assuming the parts are good, sounds like you need a better ground.

Right at the cars positive and negative wire that plugs in to the ballast. It's the original wire that plugs in to the old bulb.

theres a bunch of error cancel stuff and other electronics that people talk about but for many cars and hid kits i've seen i've never had to use those nor my friends. Im sure there are certain models that may need it but our cars don't have electrical conflicts like that. at worse some DRLs give problems only because some drls are also the low beam which doesnt provide enough power to the HID.

I'd try another set of HIDs perhaps a different brand and if still no go, try a better ground. I've mostly seen the blinkys from bad ballast. i do hid installs all the time, maybe I haven't experienced anything where my methods have not worked so far.

Im going to connect the hids direcrly to the battery. And the hids will get all the ground they need to work properly. If that doesnt work i guess ill get another set of hids.

I purchased the cheap kit off ebay (xantech? xentech?) for my car. initially mine did the same thing. Car on and at Idle and you can see them flicker. Come to think of it I think it was my left side too. Anyway I was going nuts trying to figure it out. I just left it as is and one day they just stopped flickering. The manual to my bulbs did say they required a "break in period". I honestly can't remember if I followed it or not. Could have been my issue, might be similar to yours.

^ive seen that happen in those cheap ebay kits, sometimes it goes away sometimes it doesn't. its the brand for the most part but particularly seen that problem in the xentec

This is probably true as I purchased a much more expensive kit ($150 compared to $30) for my motorcycle which had zero issues.

Ok decided to get a good brand hids. Whats the best option?

I've bought quite a few sets of DDM Tuning HID kits in the past for some friends and two sets for myself (both used in projectors) - which are cheap - and never had an issue with any of them. You should get a relay harness to run them too...that might fix the issues you're currently having. HID's when they are first turned on use more amperage at start-up than halogens, even though they are 35w compared to the 55w halogen lights, the current draw in the first few seconds of start-up is considerably more and the wire gauge probably isn't enough to carry the current the HID's require, which is where the relay harness comes into play. Like Stephen said, it could also be a ground issue. Amazon has some relay harnesses for a good price. Either way it wouldn't be a bad idea to run a relay harness either with your current ones to see if it fixes the problem, or on a new set of HID's.

It's pointless to attach the ground wire to the battery, the battery just grounds to the body of the car. The issue is a bad ground HIDs' are just a contained arc, it's like a welder if you don't have enough voltage when welding you get a choppy weld.
You should also have a look at your ballasts, change in amperage could also cause that.

Since our cars don't have HIDs it can only be the ground, the ballast or the bulb so it sounds like your ground.
