I had recently replaced my drive shaft about 3 months ago and today I realized its failed again. While doing a right turn it made the same clicking sound as before. So im pretty sure its the drive shaft.
Im using the s54 tranny with the 3rd gen 3sgte engine and my best guess is that it cannot handle the power on take off or when shifting down to over take.
I just wanted to what you guys think and or if anyone has experienced the same issue.
Would I need to change to the more powerful MR2 tranny with lsd?

Cheers.

it not being able to handle the power isn't the issue. if the old S53 Tranny I have can handle the power (and the amount of abuse I put on the tranny) the s54 for can completely handle it. and there are plenty of people who use the s54 with the 3SGTE on this site.

other than that, I'm sorry, but I can't help you with your problem... I hope you figure it out soon.

but yeah S54= can handle a lot of abuse with the 3SGTE.

im betting its a rebuilders issue rather than a power issue
