Hey guys,
So I've been having a really high idle on my 5S-FE and I found a temporary fix to it while I fix it properly, but it seems to be perfectly fine as-is. I'd like to share my solution for anybody who's having the same problem as I am so they can try to do what I did and see if that fixes their problem. Symptoms: 1. High Idle (1800 and sometimes even as high as 2000) cold or hot 2. A/C Increase the idle even more sometimes even close to 2200 3. No rough idle, just really revved up idle. Suggestions tried: 1. Adjusting Butterfly Valve screw (all the way screwed down keeping the Valve all the way closed almost): Didn't do anything 2. Checking for vacuum leaks: found none 3. Throttle Cable is brand new, no sticking cable 4. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is working fine. 5. Checked IACV/ISCV... (Idle Air Control/Idle Speed Control) 6. I removed the TB and cleaned it thorougly with carb cleaner. It didn't do anything, but leave me with a clean TB and non-sticking plate, which you should do. 7. I disconnected the IACV plug...................... That's what did the magic. I took off the magnet (yellow box) by unscrewing the two phillips head screws you'll see right under the TB mouth. When I did that, the car idled normally. (1100-1200 RPM) My guess is either the sensor is getting told to get stuck open, or something similar, or the valve on the IACV is stuck or the spring is bad. What I did to fix my problem is the following. I did this because I don't live in a cold climate place, and I don't need to have coolant into my TB to keep it warm. Solution: 1. Remove Air Intake. 2. Unplug magnet. 3. Set idle to 1000-1200 RPM (whatever Toyota Normal idle is) using the idle set screw. 4. Plug back intake. If your valve is giving you another kind of problem, it might be a whole 'nother deal and this might not work for you. Constructive criticism is allowed but I don't know why you would criticize something like this if it worked for me like it should... I currently don't have the money for a new sensor, were it to be the sensor, and I couldn't unscrew any of the 4 bolts holding the sensor valve into the TB either, and I almost stripped one of the heads so I left it on there. Hope this helps anyone out there. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

Tried it and boy, my car runs smooth as hell. My car has been idling at 2000k rpm and it has dropped significantly to 900. It has also stopped my bogging issue.
