nothing at all, It is looking for the newer style EVAP system that the 99 celica has. the 97 ECU looks for a similar EVAP system to what my 97 celica has. This will make it easier to SMOG legalize the swap in CA

Will the 3mz work with the s54 tranny? The 3MZ is about 30hp more than the 1mz,if I'm not mistaken?

From what I understand, you have a full 3MZ engine now, with a 97 ecu and wire harness from a 97 also, and a s54 transmission. As for the transmission it's a 3MZ flywheel with the 5sfe pressure plate and clutch disk. What else is needed to complete this awesome setup?

yes except im using a 1MZ/3MZ/2GR Fidanza flywheel with a 3S-GTE clutch however the disk has a center hub for an S54. Southbend makes this clutch and is ready to ship

Southbend makes this clutch and is ready to ship I just put a stage 3 phenox friction clutch in my 5s last year and Its got about 700 miles on it so I kind of wanted to keep it. How much was that flywheel? I heard lighter flywheels make a big difference. This post has been edited by doory100: Sep 28, 2015 - 6:40 PM -------------------- |

you put a stage 3 clutch in a stock car??? WHY?
you will not be able to use that clutch. yes lightweight flywheels are nice. you can get it here http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product_...kgpmkm8hl9tl7d7 -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

That would be nice. I might get one if the Canadian dollar goes back up. But it's not like I'm installing it tomorrow. So I have to have the southbend modified 3sgte clutch and 3sgte pressure plate or is there another option? Sorry for all the questions.
I put the stage 3 because it was a good price and I wanted to make sure if I did turbo it would be able to handle it. -------------------- |

i believe ACT also makes this clutch but their quality has gone to crap! Never do business with them again.
the clutch is basically a 3S-GTE clutch with the disk having a hub o mate with your S54 trans. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

I found a 1999 solara with 248000 miles on it. It runs good. The guy wants $200 for the entire car. Or $100 for the engine? Do you think it's a smart move if I rebuild the motor and drop it in my celi? Or should I find one with less miles?

It's probably OK to rebuild, worst case you get new liners and bearings all over and have the heads rebuilt, you'd have a brand new engine then for less than a brand new engine.
