Hey Guys I just installed kybs and tein lowering springs and all I`m getting is alot of creeking from the springs rubbing together near the bottom. I could see the wear where it is rubbing. I only hear the noise in slow speeds and going over bumps I could hear the springs rubbing and hitting itself. What can I do to fix this? The bump stops are at the top of the spring and cannot be moved adleast I don`t think. Give me some help guys I do not know what could do to fix it....maybe buy vinyl and melt it on to spring to stop or reduce the noise? I tried researching this and haven`t really found any solutions. Thanks guys

i had the same setup once and i didnt really have that issue i only had the issue of the front shocks bottoming out whenever i when over a heavy pothole, my solution was to remove them and get "COILOVERS" BC Black and gold edition, had them on for like 2 years (Knock on wood) no issues.

I have the exact same set-up with no problems. Also had everything adjusted, would have to look at the printout to see what all was done though. Camber, caster, and toe if I recall correctly.

Your supposed to cut some off the bump stop off before installing. And shouldnt there be some sort of rubber sleeve on the lower portion of the springs anyhow? Cause im running the same setup with no problems.

COuld be from the top mount.
Theres an arrow on it, and I believe it supposed to face towards the outside of the car.
I had the installed my tien/kyb set up incorrectly the first time as well.
As stated, it could also be the bump stop.

Yea I brought a years worth of alignments lol cause I figured just incase... but I will take them back out maybe they are in wrong but it was all lined up I thought... like I said I jacked the car up to change my oil and I checked on them and I see where they are rubbing... I`m not sure about bump stops cause the orginals on the back were non existent and the only had one in the front guess I gotta get new ones, also I just relized I didn`t put the new locking nuts on top so I guess its going back over it again second time should go alot faster though!

i just cut off 1 section out of the 3, well thats the minimum you could cut off anyway. had em long time ago on my 1.8 intrax springs.

as already mentioned, this is your problem. this arrow needs to be pointing outwards.

if you remove your front wheel, you'll notice the top plate is wedged against the strut tower. so when you're turning the steering wheel, the strut turns but the spring doesn't which is causing the creaking noises.

sadly, some top mounts don't have that arrow, my oem mounts from 94 didn't have it, my kyb didnt have it, and my new OEM replacements that looked like KYB didnt have it.

Good diagram! I just got my new boots and bump stops and will take care of this... Makes sense cause the spring is rubbing and is just not lined up... So I`ma take this on within the next few weeks, hopefully this will all take it away lol... Do you have a diagram for the rears as well? Cause the top mount did not align right with the spring really well but figured since its on the rear it doesn`t matter that much.

Its the same idea for the rear.
That arrow just has to point to the outside.

make sure the spring is mounted on the bottom of the strut and top mount correctly, you could tell by the rubber piece indentation. also make sure the top mount is on the semi square groove with the strut stem.

What if I can't get the rubber to line up in the rear? Seems like when I did it the spring was just short of it? Maybe I've done it wrong?
