Hey everyone this site is great. It's a wonderful source of information as for I love celicas. Well to start off my first celica was the st and I loved it right away. A few months ago this guy cut two lanes of traffic and t boned the front end of the car. To make things short it was totaled. It wasn't a total loss because they sent me a check for 3600$ and i paid $800. So now I am about to go buy this 95 gt with the 5F-SE for 1200$. I just had a few questions the car has above 200k miles on it which I know it will go for a lot more if I keep it stock. But I would like to turbo it. Now would I have to do a complete bottom and top end rebuild on it if im running boost below 10psi? Also I know eventually I would love todo a 3sgte swap but as I was reading a thread it said the fwd platform is not good for 250+hp I just wanted to have your guys input on this if it is worth getting doing all of that to a fwd car.
Thanks, Josh |

First off let me say welcome to 6gc
Now as far as your questions go i cant really awnser them but i do know it would be smart to do a full rebuild if you turbo it but if you want to swap to a 3sgte then i wouldnt bother with the 5s just do basic maintenance But your best friends will be the stickies they are full of info But read the project threads too there full of info an give you a better feel of how ppl think they are after the swap an itll give you alot more ideas Like look at me for instance a year ago o never thought id own another celica an fastforward to now not only do i have one but 2 im doing a v6 swap on my 94 gt an its all because of this site its full of great ppl an awsome info good luck an cant wait to see what you do! -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

in your situation with 200k, id say swap a low mileage 3S in it. It would be cheaper than rebuilding the 5S and turboing it.

QUOTE I would love todo a 3sgte swap but as I was reading a thread it said the fwd platform is not good for 250+hp Those threads are silly and often posted by people who don't own a 250+hp fwd car. Trust me its not an issue to worry about. Go join an srt4 message board. There are a lot of people there making 350+hp who are perfectly happy. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Thank you guys. Yeah lagos I figured that everyone is like the wheels are just going to spin but with the right tires and properly driven i know it wont be a problem. So within a week Ill have the new gt. Ill probably start with the body/interior first then go on to the performance end of it. Pretty much I want the whole gt4 body kit even know shipping for those parts are through the roofs haha but thanks again guys

welcome! fwd horsepower is fine! lol suspension is the basis for horsepower! build your suspension up well so that you can use all that horsepower! most people neglect suspension, but it is a key part of being able to use all of the power your car has to offer. also do some lsd research. the e153 is pretty cool!
