I wrote to VIS and asked on the new Carbon fiber hood (c-one style) i asked if I could paint the hood without any problem.
this is what they have to say:

The carbon fiber hoods can be painted as long as its prepped right, need to wet sand it down first and then primer than paint.
The hoods are made of fiberglass with a carbon fiber overlay.

I was told by some people here that I was not going to be able to paint it If wanted to because it was carbon fiber

So its not cd? just fiberglass with a cf sticker?

see this is what im lost on
a Sticker is a sticker...like, the carpet you buy and can lay on things.

so does vis someone use that, or do what wrap the material in carbon fiber else-how

yeah, its wrapped in carbon fiber. but its only one layer so really its just for looks

wrapped like a cheap vinyl, or wrapped like...somehow laid(not by hand im guessing) over it
