when i charge my phone while its hooked to the aux in i get alternator hum how do i stop it, it only hums when its charging

You alt may be on it's way out and binding up. I'd get it tested just to be sure.

The alternator itself isn't humming, I am getting whining through the speakers that increases in pitch as I rev the engine. But only when my phone is charging and hooked up to the aux input, alternator was replaced 2 months ago.

I get the same thing when I charge my phone (Droid 3) and have it plugged into the aux on my head unit. Mine usually goes away though once I put music on or play some audio on the phone.

It was really weird the first time I heard it, but since it always went away when playing music, I didn't think anything of it.

Put a better ground on your cigarette lighter
Older cars dont have as good of grounding for them as newer car

You get the same humming sound through your subs when your amp isnt grounded well enough

bought that and the isolator for the power source... the noise is real low but noticeable when the music gets low or when its changing songs on pandora. i will be happy to be rid of it
